Have never come across it, but it sounds amazing:

"The fruit's taste has been compared to a combination of banana and passionfruit or a combination of banana, cucumber and lime."

I don't know how Passionfruit seems to be exchangeable with cucumber and lime but I am very interested to try it.
Why have passionfruit when you can have cucumber and lime?

I‘m intrigued too. I would also love to try your own doppelgänger, Mangosteen

It wouldn’t be tough to beat the only exotic fruit I have tried - Durian
So the bar is low

My favourite uncommon (in Australia anyway) one is Purple Dragonfruit though

I rarely have passionfruit but have cucumber daily and lime most days so I’ll take the passionfruit for a change :)

I got tricked into trying Durian once

Unsurprisingly, mangosteen is MUCH better than durian. Kind of like a lychee mixed with a mandarin (but that doesn't really tell you how truly tasty it is).

I had mangosteen once, I'd heard all the hype but I wasn't that impressed.

Jackfruit is one I've liked. I've never had it fresh, just as part of a stew or however they prepare it in SE Asia. I thought it was meat at first. It has such a meaty texture. I think you can get it tinned. The fresh ones in Australia are very expensive.

Definitely get a Mangosteen. I think they are grown in small quantities in Northern WA, but if you ever go to Bali they are everywhere to be bought. Beware, the white fruit bit sometimes has quite large pips which I don't mess around with.

Mmmm, dragonfruit are great. I would like more.

We have a lime tree that flowers all year round. Bloody limes on the ground everywhere

I have a lime tree that does pretty well, and get passionfruit from the neighbours vine which has grown over the fence.

Personally, I am not interested in eating the lime. Maybe juicing it, but even then I don't use it as much as I could.

I did make a pretty yum fish dish the other night which used some kaffir lime leaves from the garden, and lime juice from the home grown limes.

Back to the passionfruit. I have probably had one a day since moving into the new house. It will be a real sadness for me when the season is over.

Likewise . It was the lowlight of my first trip to Malaysia back in the 2000s. Never again.

I have a passion fruit growing on the front fence, hasn't fruited yet but when it does I guess kids walking past can grab one. I only like the large yellow ones, I reckon the purple ones are always too tart

Things thay annoy you. These are things not people. So don't go saying me.

1) When I see toilet paper loaded this way:

2) When I see a dishwasher loaded like this:

I have so many so would like to give others have a say on things that annoy you.

I think I tried it fresh once. I seem to recall it being pretty bland. Not unlike what a pineapple might taste like if you reduced the flavour by 95%.

The cooked stuff however is wildly delicious. Underutilised in Australia. A perfect ingredient if you are trying to eat less meat and want a more natural meat substitute.

Yeah, we have yellow ones at our place. Possibility not the same type you are talking about. Mine are tart like the Royals will be after we give them a shellacking.

I’ve never been to Bali. It was never high on my destination list but despite this, we were meant to finally go a few years ago but then the eruptions happened and others got stranded there so cancelled the trip, and never got around to planning another . Exmouth is as north as I have ever been. Hopefully that changes.

My parents have a lime tree too. It’s very low maintenance but yeah, oversupplies us with lime (if there is such a thing) . They also have a mango tree , and I’m spoilt with backyard mangos from their tree for 3 months of the year. Even the frozen leftovers taste better than the shop mangos.

I am jealous of your passionfruit tree though :D .

Jack fruit? Tastes like bubble gum when ripe. Unripe it is used for cooking

I've heard that a good use of excess limes is to juice them and freeze the juice in ice cubes for future use. Not a bad shout. I have yet to be to Exmouth but look forward to it. I loved coral bay.

I also had a giant granadilla once. You have to hand pollinate them about 11 in the morning to get any fruit.

You eat the pulp, and the white flesh which tastes like a sweet melon

Being in FNQ you can grow all this stuff, I can't. I am stuck with growing the stuff that you could buy for next to nothing at the shops.

I have started to plant my pumpkin seeds insteads of giving them to the chooks. The plants have come up but we'll see if I get any pumpkins.
