Thankyou Ocha905 and congratulations to BFew on his outstanding performance to take home that award. BFew of course remains in contention for the Rising Star, with nine positions left to reveal. Let's get cracking into the #9 and #8 rookies for Season 37.

9 pk75.png

The second Dragon nominee this season, and another Fremantle board disciple, pK75 played as a half back and back pocket in Season 37 and was a solid contributor to his club's run to the semi final. He picked up his Rising Star nomination in Round 14 against the Demons, moving onto the wing and collecting 23 disposals, 3 tackles and a goal in a tough head-to-head matchup with DemonJim. Sadly pK75 will be stepping away from the game after this season but we hope his taste of SFA action will bring him back to the fold eventually.

8 BigChippa52.png

BigChippa52 was one of a handful of Wonders rookies this season and has shown boundless enthusiasm for the league in his short time here. His captain AnUltimateRessie gave his rookies plenty of rotation so Chippa split his time across centre half back, midfield and the half forward line and averaged a respectable 13 disposals and 4 marks per game. His standout performance came in his first midfield game back in Round 7, where he had 27 disposals, 9 marks and 108 DT points.

Award Ceremony - Leading Goalkicker
It is a great honour to announce the winner of Goal Kicker of the Year (let's call it the mini-Fred) to -

The SFA is truly the place miracles happen.
Here's where an online community comes together in complete unity with nary a shitfight to be seen. Um, actually forget that.
How about a place where a simulated God fairly and equitably decides winners of the competition... Remembers I'm a Warrior... nevermind...

Ok ok, how about a place where a blue horse can kick snags upon snags. As some 90's celebrities once said -

Fortunately myblueroan proved it was more than possible for the equine community to achieve their dreams of playing and thriving in the SFA. MBR Kicked a remarkable 27 goals in the regular season before adding another 3 in the dominant Qualifying Final win against the Swamprats. Most of the goals came predominantly from the Ruck Rover position although a massive 5 goals straight was achieved in round 2 against the Dragons playing forward in just her 2nd game. Along with her immense matchday thread contributions it wasn't long before the Old Boy's knew they had a special rookie at their qlub.

The OOB's are going to need a big contribution from MBR in the Grand Final if they are to achieve their preordained prophecy of #cup2spoon2cup

Congratulations to MBR on a fine season! This award can sit pretty next to your newly acquired EKA trophy.

Oh mannnn!!! This is like a beautiful dream!
I'd like to thank all my beautiful and very talented team mates. Tigerturbulance trains us really hard but it paid off for OOB
this year. It was a team effort. Plus my extra 2 legs I guess. Shucks!
Also a shoutout to my specialty coaches the WeyreWolff Academy. They really helped me hone skills.
CHeers!💖🐎

myblueroan adds to her EKA win by taking out the Mini-FRED as the leading rookie goalkicker of Season 37. But can she join a storied group of rookies to win both the EKA and Rising Star? We will soon find out - here's your 7th and 6th ranked rookies for Season 37.

7 tomjoad.png

It was great to see tomjoad find his feet - and an avatar pic - in the back end of the season and the Bombers will be hoping he can stay involved for many seasons to come. He got a great run on the wing in his debut season and saw plenty of the qooty, averaging 19 disposals, 4 marks and 61 DT points per game which ranks him fourth amongst the S37 cohort. His nomination came in Round 12 against the Old Boys, with a massive 34 disposal game and a screamer of a mark.

6 BFew.png

The second of three Wonders nominees, BFew could have been higher in this ranking if he'd found his natural midfield position earlier in the season as his form in the second half of the year was unrivalled amongst his peers. His nomination came in Round 11 when he had 24 disposals, 8 hitouts and 2 goals but he topped that with a Round 20 masterclass where he had 32 disposals, 7 tackles and a whopping 6 goals in arguably the best individual performance of any player in the SFA. Now that he's found his spot, all we can say is watch out Sweet FA.

While Ickster is having dinner I may as well post the last of the mini-awards, the Post of the Year. Kind of apt given who's been providing the halftime music...

Who the Bears actually are:

Bear facts for Wonders:
Historically likes to dance for money on the street.
Likes honey coated Piglet and Pooh Sticks.
Historically located attached to Sebastian Flyte.
Roosevelt is not their last name.
Can generally be found inhabiting pillows in childrens bedrooms and kindergartens.
Fur is often unhygenically coated in child slobber and sticky unidentified matter, do not cuddle.
Do not poke as they can growl.
Often known as 'Care Bears' they actually don't care at all.
It's winter which means they are very sleepy and getting ready to hibernate.

END QUOTE -

I'm a superstitious person when it comes to qooty and believe some posts can determine matches. And after this all out takedown, the Wonders winning the Final against the Bears was a mere formality. Pamcake1 is building quite a renown as a formidable adversary who is not to be trifled with in any forum (Werewolf players will never forget her impersonation of an alien during a recent game). Las Vegas haven't seen such disrespect since Warriors legend Frankston Rover won the qlubs Pwded Award Trophy with a similarly blistering take down.

Congratulations Pam on a barnstorming first season! I sincerely hope I'm not the recipient of your wrath in future matchday threads! A top 5 placement (at least) in the Rising Star is another indication of how highly you're regarded around these parts.

Sometimes a special event happens where you remember exactly where you were and what you were doing when it happened. This season BFew delivered that moment with a game for the ages, taking the Grand Finalist OOB's to the cleaners. Although highlights of the occasion have suspiciously been wiped without a trace, (rumours are a 245kg behemoth was seen burning the tape) we still have the reverent stories from those at the ground that day. The most common comparison is this game from Chris Judd -

BFew now joins and illustrious qlub of players that have kicked 5+ goals and 30+ disposals. I suck at navigating the Sweet+ site so have referred to the inferior foopy comp for a list of players who include -

Leigh Matthews (11x), Kevin Bartlett (4x), Greg Williams (3x), Gary Ablett Snr (3x), Seven players who have done it twice (Gary Buckenara, Steve Johnson, Paul Hudson, Bernie Quinlan, Garry Wilson, Brian Royal and Wayne Richardson) and 18 players who done it once. That's it.

Congratulations on a performance for the ages BFew. You don't need to bow to no one. We bow to you.

Congratulations BFew

Award Ceremony - Rank 4 & 5
Rising Star Banner.png

Thank you Ocha905 for your stellar work this evening and congratulations to all of our additional award winners. We're now at the pointy end of proceedings as we reach the top five rookies of Season 37 - JuddgementDay, myblueroan, My Cotchin Rules, Nothing and Pamcake1 remain in the hunt for the coveted Rising Star award. Without further ado, here's 5th and 4th in our leaderboard.

5 Nothing.png

Nothing put together a great season as a crafty half forward flank for the Royals after being picked up off the Werewolf board for Season 37. His nomination was achieved relatively late in the piece with 17 disposals, 6 marks and 65 DT points in Round 16 against the Gumbies. Averaging 14 disposals, 4 marks and 1.3 goals per game, his 68.8 DT points ranks him sixth amongst all half forwards in the Sweet FA for Season 37.

4 myblueroan.png

Our EKA winner is now off the board! myblueroan slots into fourth in our Rising Star places with a season spent predominantly in the forward pocket. Her goalkicking nous was well received across the league, with 27 home & away majors enough to secure the Mini-FRED and a place in the All-SFA team in a wonderful first season. She moved into the midfield later in the season and showed great form as a rover and will be vital to the Old Boys' premiership hopes on Sunday afternoon.
