It's pretty clear that the only way he gets sacked is if the bottom completely falls out and we go something like 8-15 or worse. But that's just not a realistic case scenario given the talent on the list.

I think our best chance is to miss the 8 or bomb completely in finals again. This could potentially fast track the succession plan with next season being the last of Hinkley.

Hi all,

Collingwood supporter.
  • second favourite team - anyone who plays Adelaide.
  • third favourite team -anyone who plays Geelong.

I sat behind the PA coaches box on Saturday at the MCG.

There is a lot of bad vibes going on in the coaches box, between players and coaching staff and other staff.

I don't think your players are listening or following the coaches instructions.
I saw at times utter frustrations from the coaching staff during the game due to decisions made by players on the field.
During rotations, I saw Hinkley express to players his thoughts / explanations. Never heated!
I've come to the conclusion, that the players aren't following 'set plays'. The coaching staff have decided on set play for different scenarios ( like all teams ) and your players either don't have the confidence, ability or discipline to follow whats been pre-determined.

Watching PA play on Saturday was almost like watching junior suburban football.
A core of 5,6 or 8 players playing the game with the remaining 'fringe dwellers'.

As for Charlie Dixons episode last week and his following statements after the game, well!!!!
If he is a one position player, that hasn't the capabilities of evolving into the current game of being able to play in multiple positions, than the game has passed him.

I don't think all your problems are coaching staff related.

On a side note: The lady that hands out water bottles and refreshments to the players as they're coming off was fobbed off by many players. Fobbed off is a very generous term.!!

I was very surprised by many of your players and their reactions to the all modes of staff on the bench.

I won't mention names who appeared to be the most arrogant f**** in your side, but there seemed to be a few.
CD wasn't there!!

I'm only letting you guy's know, because you won't see the going ons on TV.
You guys need a lot of repairs and the Coach is probably the least of them.
Sorry, but the coach and the people who have enabled him being there are totally and solely responsible for what is going on at our club!

Bottoming out is not happening with this list, and even if it did, they wouldn't sack him. It would be put down as an aberration and he'd rock up next year just like every other failed season.

Unless something changes (Like Koch leaving) Hinkley is safe and will be here as long as he wants to be.

Thank you for this.

Please don’t hold back adding extra, including naming offenders. We have Tredders on the board now, don’t forget. Wow.

To say Hinkley is ‘probably the least of’ our problems is to overlook how the problems have been created and who has been there long enough to create them and ensure they fester.

Hinkley was dispatched minus headphones from the box down to the bench for round 4 last year to instil face-on ‘confidence’ into a playing group whose leaders admitted in-house that they had completely lost the plot on-field during the round 3 Showdown loss wearing the Bars.

Somehow we won the next 13 games.

The plot at Alberton is impossible for even a computer to decipher. But the constant throughout a dozen years is Hinks the Jinx.

No doubt about that.

If the coach has been there 12 years and we have player problems.. then… maybe he’s the wrong guy for the job if he can’t sort the players out.

The players are arrogant as *? You've just described the senior coach in a nutshell.

Then the players playing in their 'on loan PA jumpers' are playing for their individual pay checks rather than playing for their supporters or club.

I saw a lot of players seemingly glad for their 20K pay packet for playing 1/2 to 3/4 of a game of football.

Collingwood bench had vibes from the players and coaching staff.

Your bench had no vibes from coaching staff and players ( not all players )

I doubt a new coach would fix the arrogance of some of your players to go forward

The players are arrogant because they know a sub par performance will not result in being dropped from the team. They are part of Hinkleys boys club ans don't need to do anything except for when Hinkley is under fire.
A new coach could set new standards and change the culture quite quickly

You're describing the coach having lost the players.

If you think the Port players were mean to the watergirl wait till you find out about Jordan De Goey. What any of it has to do with winning a Premiership I have no idea.

You are aware the coach and footy boss are involved with quite a few players outside of footy right? He cultivates a culture of entitlement.

The culture he's developed there is one of love and care. Regardless of what any player does, they'll receive that love and care from Ken. The standards are not to win on the field, it's to do what you want.

This team will make finals and will go out first round. Not even good enough this year to make top 4 imo.

We've had issues defensively. The backline isn't working because the match ups are totally wrong. Why's Aliir on Elliot? Why are 3 people going for the same spoil? Why aren't players like Burton and Houston not applying defensive pressure? I understand their roles are to be offensive HBs but you can't have Houston, Burton, Farrell and Jones all be offensive and leave their match ups free out the back.

The midfield has been awesome this year so I won't tear it apart as much. But what I'll say is they went to sleep after Q1 at the contest and that's where we lost it. Again, Ken wasn't able to get his players to maintain the standards for 4 quarters against a good quality opposition, an issue that's been there for 10 years.

The forward line didn't have Dixon and I thought that'd be a blessing in disguise because I wanted to see how I entries would change. It was great to watch in Q1 but when the pressure came, they buckled and went back to bombing into 50 and some pretty selfish plays. And the goal kicking accuracy, don't even get me started on the "training" we have done on it in the offseason.

The reason why we'll crash out in finals is because our defence, ironically, is too attack minded. It just doesn't hold up against top teams and it's proven. And that's all down to the bald headed guy on the bench who's implemented the same, one dimensional gameplan without any consideration for a plan B. We now have 3 KPDs but don't know how to use them in the right match ups

That behind the goals vision of Burton just lol
Exactly right, what a waste of space. He looks like he couldn't give a shit. Too many of our players look like that too often. Finlayson couldn't give a shit half the time. Burton rarely gives a shit. Jones and Wines. Even Rozee and Butters, when things are going poorly, don't seem to care enough. That's a list of players off the top of my head whose body language shows they don't care enough. There are probably more.

Our captain and vice captain didn't seem to care enough to pull themselves out of the mire of self-pity that we could see in the rooms in the half-time vision. Both of them sitting next to each other, heads down looking at the ground.

Rozee, actually both of them, should have been full of voice, talking to the group, and getting around to other groups, showing a bit of care, a bit of fight, not wallowing in misery and acceptance of defeat.

Appreciate the info about what was happening on the bench. Thanks for that. But please don't think you can therefore diagnose what's going wrong with our mob (against top 8 teams) - we know it's largely about Hinkley and the culture he breeds. We've been watching this shit show week-in week-out for a long time now.
