Finals wins since 2014:

Ken Hinkley: 2 wins
Michael Voss: 2 wins
Adam Kingsley: 2 wins

It's now 2024 lol.
Craig McRae has won twice as many finals in his two year career as Ken Hinkley has won in the last decade.

Bassett was also shit. We just love shit coaches.

Remember his talls dont matter if they arent good hubris then getting bukaked by shitty talls because he outright refused to play or draft tall defenders for his line.

Definitely, Bassett wasn’t the problem

I always thought Bass was good, just left of centre so the anti to Ken.

Bass has brains and could at least talk the English language and hold his own in front of a camera. Not sure he’d say ‘learnings’ like a 1 year old.

since "sack Hinkley" is too on the nose what if someone made a sign saying "I would like a change of coach"? would that get you kicked out? "I wouldn't mind a managerial change" "I'm open to the idea of a new coach" or how about keeping it vague "how long is too long?" and if someone tries to eject you, you just say "it's in reference to Lachies Mullet!!! Ha Ha Ha We Love Lachie and His Hair like Good Port Fans !!!!"

Not quite on that level, but I suspect it will be the happiest day for most Port Adelaide people since the 2004 Grand Final when that happens !!!

I would honestly hate to lose him, but I honestly believe Ash Hansen is the next great young AFL coach in the making..

He has been our foward line coach for a few years now and the results speak for themselves (he had a highly regarded reputation at the Bulldogs do)

I strongly feel Ash could honesty have a positive and immediate impact at Alberton as Adam Kingsley at GWS.
Hansen has been on most lists of "next possible senior coach" for quite some time and is probably very close to due his shot.

One thing I will say is that if we are in a situation where we have to pick our next coach and have two guys who are similar but one has mostly mid/def experience and one has mostly fwd line experience I'd pick the forward line coach without hesitation as we have had god awful forward strategy for at minimum the last 12 years and it needs the biggest shift.

We're gonna end up with Carr though, after he wastes even more time becoming worse by being in the same box as Hinkley.

It's all a part of the learning process.

I would like to know what the "learning process" actually involves and how long does it take?

It doesn't give me much confidence going forward, considering if other professionals took 11 years to learn their craft and still they are incompetent.

Being made fun of by Abbey Holmes and Dale Thomas is incredible.
Channel 7 are the most vanilla host broadcaster imaginable.

Rarely have a strong opinion about anything.

So for them to willingly pull the piss out of our coach on national television, then back over it again with a written piece drawing more attention to it...jesus that is so grim.

It appears at this stage there are very few people left who don't get the joke.

While it's good for a chuckle, it's just another sign that the AFL media machine is keeping it's commentary on Hinkley suppressed. This shows that they clearly see what we see, hear what we hear, and have a not too dissimilar attitude towards him as we do.

Why then is there no overt criticism of him as a coach?
Why is it that whatever criticism they do muster is directed at the club, but the praise for wins out of the box goes to 'Kenny'?

Everything about this stinks.

Was our back 6 better with Bassett?

Bassett might’ve been stale, he might’ve slipped behind the bleeding edge of what the best back-half structure looks like, and he might’ve lost a lick of drive and ambition to continue at AFL level,

But compared to Tyson Goldsack and Chad Cornes, he’s Bill Belichick.

TBH overtly mocking the bloke like they have should be more damaging than a legitimate deconstruction of his coaching shortcomings.

It says to me they think he's an absolute clown, who isn't even worth criticising properly.

Even worse is they give off the impression it's an open secret in AFL circles that Hinkley is a joke.

Unfortuately, I have zero faith that anyone in a position of power at Port would be cluey enough to read between the lines and identify what's inferred here.
