Fair and you could probably put the same argument forward for half a dozen assitants we had over the last 12 years.

Personally I'm not in the hate Hinkley camp. Not many left in the world that would have the integrity to walk away from a high paying job without having alternative options.

You could argue Hardwick did, but he would have been fairly confident of another gig.

Not sure Ken would still have those options.
I’ve never said that I hate Ken, but if we have the sort of end to our season that most are predicting, and he’s still here next year………
I also very much doubt that the Hardwick situation wasn’t orchestrated well in advance. Quit Richmond while they’re on the way down, have a nice break, overseas holiday with the family, and then step into a completely unexpected vacancy coaching the Suns and getting paid squillions while setting up home in the very place you intend to retire to. We’ll colour me surprised.

Doesnt matter who is coach if we still have Koch and the other roaches on the board. We need to clean them out before proper change can happen
The main thing that Koch has done that is a negative is inflicting us with Hinkley. Other than being a colossal twat. Be rid of Hinkley first.

Do you reckon ken likes bung fritz? Or do you think he calls it Devon?
There's no way he'd touch that south australian shit. Devon probably also too 'foreign' for his tastes

He'd be all about packet ham (probably Don - a good victorian brand) and cheese slices (not f**king 'cheer' cheese though - woke shit)

He would go the smiley fritz because it makes him happy on his toast when it is cut into soldiers....

Incredible that all the things that the white noise have been saying for years is now being backed up by data......

We have the data...we know who you are....

To the club, filter out the anger and those with an agenda and listen. You are being given a gift by your supporters that will guide you on how to be successful.

I went into my boss's office's this morning and told him to shut the **** up.

Weirdly, no three-year contract extension was forthcoming. I got fired and now my life is ruined.
Get your wife to do it for you next time.

It's been so long and draining it's difficult to imagine any scenario with Ken no longer coaching.....but if I really strain my 6 brain cells I can picture a few.

Scenario 1. We miss the eight, the pressure is too much in the socials and the media have finally turned, Kenny average "graciously" steps down to enable Josh Carr to take over, a press conference is held where Koch hails Ken as a savior of the club, credits him with many meaningless achievements, and speaks about how he's selflessly taught and set up Carr to take this team onwards.

Scenario 2. We make the eight, but bundle straight out. I think this is genuinely 50/50 as to whether that would be Kens end (see above) or whether he would continue on with the clubs backing. If the club does back him, we would get a resounding pat on the back by the media for showing faith in the face of supporter unrest, (those delusional supporters expecting progress and success), the succession plan is formalised and bottom ten Ken coaches his final year.

Scenario 3. We make the eight and win a final, and Ken is here next year.

Hardwick has a slightly more impressive CV than Ken, hence confident of another senior gig. That's just rational, no need to bring integrity into it. Ken only has to walk away and go to a role closer to his capabilities. That he isn't being pushed and also won't walk away exacerbates our chronic pain. The "never, ever going to win one with this bloke in charge" ache.

Now you don't have to hate someone to want them moved on for <checks latest numbers> setting historic records of unsuccessfulness, but I have to say it is getting easier by each record-extending-day to despise the individual most responsible for not moving them on soon enough.

On Ken I've just moved on and have zero care factor about the individual. I won't even listen to any of his interviews. Diogenes holding a lamp in daylight looking for a man comes to mind.

All my emotions are completely tied up with the clubs inability to review and look for ways to improve (particularly by replacing him).

I have no proof, but given history of 2017, I'm convinced that if Ken had another option available last year, particularly if it was 3+ years, he would have ditched us in a heart beat.

He's not Hardwick, so didn't have any offers and accepted the 2 years we offered. Problem for me is who offered the 2+ years.

I'm all for bagging Ken but he has no dog in the race of social and political issues like being woke, etc. He just does what he's told to do without question. Someone tells him he can't make racial slurs anymore and he's like 'yep righto then'. He probably even asks his kids who to vote for at election time. He probably voted for Billy Brownless.

He did have a dog in the race, but then he threw it in the greyhound annihilator

So what you are really saying is that Ken doesn't care about the club, players or it's supporters. He wont walk away because there are no job prospects for a failed senior AFL coach, well that's Hinkley to a tee, dam selfish prick.
Obviously I don't know him.

But to me, he doesn't seem to fussed about winning or losing. Played his whole career without winning a flag so is used to it.

He just comes across to me as a typical late 50s bloke, doing the bare minimum not to get sacked while he waits for his TTR super.

Not easy for us old school Ports to accept. Apparently wanting to see us at our best makes us obnoxious.

There should be a prize for the 100,000th sack Hinkley post. Chief free upgrade to premium membership? Or at least a special badge
I am putting this on the list. Get me a group of phrases to search for and I will have it done!

Just listening to 5AA, yeah I know I am not proud of it either.

I am paraphrasing most of the below, even the remarks in quotation marks, but here is the gist of it.

Someone called in questioning Rowie about Nicks. “Get rid of him. Stop defending him, etc.”

Rowe gives his reasons, defends Nicks and says he still has two more years, etc, etc. Rowe then makes it known that the caller is a Port supporter and tells him to look in his own backyard.

Expecting the caller to turn the torch on Hinkley, he then turns to Tim Ginever:

“Hey Timmy. Hey Timmy! I heard you speak after the game on Thursday. Those things about Johnny Cahill … forget about it. It’s not the SANFL anymore. That will never be replicated. That will nEvEr be replicated. Forget about it.“

Ginever simply replies (with a bit of frustration in his voice): “It’s the mindset of winning. If you do not want to be in the mindset of winning, keep on doing what you’re doing.”

You can see Ginever's hands a tied in terms of criticising the team and the coach, but he let's his feelings known every now and then.

Oi!! I resemble that remark ;)

On SEN before the North Melbourne game David King brought up Ken breaking Bill Stephens longest serving coaching tenure without a GF record. Kane was not interested in discussing it one bit. The conversation lasted less than a minute with Kane simply declaring "Ken has done a really good job" before quickly moving on.
2 or more flags = a really good job
2 finals wins in a decade = a really crap job

If the coaching hand over is true, Carr will get the team right at the peak of our premiership window.

Hopefully he has some really good ideas about getting the team up and running.
Literally any tweak of the Hinkley game plan is a good idea.

Would like to see Ken's packing list for a trip to China

2x 24 pack coke Zero
1kg coon cheese
2kg primo sliced ham
3x coles home brand plain white bread
Ken would definitely still call it Coon cheese as well.
