The Keith Thomas pivot is true, but you’re 12 months early in the timeline:

• Port finishes 5th with 15 wins at the end of the minor round in 2017;

• Loses the home Elimination Final to Luke Shuey and 8th-placed West Coast;

• Amidst Donnagate, Koch & co extend Hinkley out to the end of 2020 (already contracted for 2018 and tacked on 2 more);

• The club then goes out and gets Tom Rockliff, Steven Motlop, Jack Watts, Trent McKenzie, Jack Trengove and Lindsay Thomas;

• Holds the ‘INSIDE PORT ADELAIDE — LIVE’ Members Convention on 10 February 2018, which is heavily attended by BigFooty and is met with almost universal and lavish praise from many who now wouldn’t trust the club to successfully feed chips to seagulls;

• In season 2018 Port misses the eight from 11-4, vindicating those who felt the way we were playing/winning was a false economy;

• The club then pivots, trading out Wingard/Polec/Pittard to ultimately bring in Burton/Duursma/Rozee as well as Sam Mayes, Scott Lycett & Cam Sutcliffe(!);

• 2019 is a Jekyll & Hyde sh¡tshow, underpinned and excused away by a mythological narrative that Port’s lineup is now teeming with children and won’t be in a position to seriously challenge for 2-3 years, despite having a list profile similar to the premiers and a stack of 28-30+ year olds in the lineup.

• Keith Thomas continues to run with a narrative of “Kenny sacrificed his career! [for the good of the club/list]”, and the media and large swathes of our fans swallow this rubbish whole.

Probably two years out. I'm referring to a meeting between KT and some BF posters that occurred at the end of the season we traded out Howard. In that meeting, KT estimated that we'd be challenging for a flag by 2024.

I’m fine with Carr if he is interim coach for whatever is left of 2024. Then he has a chance to show if he has something more than Hinkley.

But if we are talking about going into 2025, they have to look outside the club
Carr and Goldsack were having a good old chuckle and laugh walking to the coaches box before the start of the third quarter.

Losing by 45 points at half-time is funny apparently.

He’s not the answer.

Ken saying we're going to keep trying to close the gap on the teams like Brisbane and GWS.
Which can definitely happen with a competent coach. With Hinkley at the helm, there's more chance of me making my AFL debut - I'm 60 next month :).

Maybe Carr was saying to Goldsack that next week he might be the head coach... they were laughing because they know how inept the club is so that won't happen.

More negativity against Ken than I've seen for a long time across my socials and stuff. God I hope Koch and the other dickheads on the board can see it

Agreed, and the only way we get that is if Koch in particular is gone too. Has to happen.

Forward line the most inaccurate in the AFL.

Stacked midfield that can’t function.

Went from cooked Jonas and 1 Leg McKenzie to Ratugolea and Zerk-Thatcher and backline got worse with high line lemmings footy.

These coaches bloody stink.

That would be Brisbane who wouldn't be in the 8 if we could have beaten them on our home ground and GWS who have won 2 of their last 5 (one against us of course) and are currently trailing Sydney by 40 points.

Well pardon me while a sit astride the 16 inch cannons of the USS Missouri like Cher.

If I could turn back time, indeed.

I've been visiting this thread for years, feel like after today it’s a “need to check in” moment.

I first wrote on this thread back when Whateley had a go at Port fans on 360.

There's a seriously weird culture around our sport and coaches. And it's mainly down to the cosy relationship coaches have with the boy’s club in the media.

The problem is, the media shape so many of the publics opinions, so, many fans then end up parroting their propaganda (you know “who you gonna get”, “he can’t kick it for them”, “he doesn’t have the cattle” etc.).

I’ve really felt for Port fans over this horrible journey as Hinkley embodies everything wrong with the AFL media and fan culture around coaches.

You have been constantly gaslit by the media.

But you know what is worse?

Your own club, from the President down, have gaslit you as well.

I can’t say much more to you all but that I really hope it is over soon.
