In amongst Gerard’s embarrassing, fawning defence of Ken he actually says the only thing that needs to be said. No coach makes it 12 years without a GF appearance and then survives a season of obvious decline.

His subsequent “Port fan bad” narrative makes absolutely no sense in the context of this comment, which has proven true throughout the 150 plus year history of Australian Rules Football.

No supporter base, of any club, has accepted it. Ever. So why should we?

If you are not going to report the facts as a sports journo you are not going to last long. As far as Hinkley goes, these are the questions a good journo would ask and find the factual answers.

1. How long has Ken had to build a side.
2. What is his record against top clubs.
3. What is his finals record.
4. He has a good midfield including a Brownlow medalist.
4. Has he had the support of the board.

The answers to those questions are easy to find and that's where the answer to if Port need a change of voice.

I can’t bring myself to go. The idea of sitting there watching them got destroyed is too much to bare. I sort of half pretend our SANFL doesn’t even exist now, ignorance is bliss I guess.

They've been absolutely ruined by having a complete nuffie as coach who tries to implement Hinkley's game plan.

If Carry does get the job, I hope he gets a sanfl coach in and tells him to coach them to win under sanfl conditions. Yeah play the players largely in the positions they will play in the AFL but let him switch it up. Hartlett is completely clueless, and not helped by looking like it's a coaching committee out there with Lobbe and Westhoff making decisions. Utter rubbish.

Carry might try to get Surjan across from North, but if not I would even be happy to offer the job to Bassett tomorrow. He's just faffing around as an assistant to Steve Marshall and would probably like the opportunity to stick it up Ken who shot him into the sun.

Right now the media heat is nothing compared to the reality of, on the 20th anniversary celebration of your only AFL premiership, half the crowd leave at 3/4 time with the remaining die hards left at Adelaide Oval booing the senior coach whenever he showed up on the screen.

I had an excellent pre-game exchange at my 3 year old nephew's birthday party. There were casual Port supporters there who just couldn't understand why I hated Hinkley so much. They laughed about it, completely puzzled on why I would think this way.

Then we coughed up 12 goals straight.
