I was embarrassed when a grown man signed a contract to play alongside his team-mates in pursuit of the ultimate goal then welched on that 5 rounds in to go do fireman cosplay for a month.

I too would prefer to be on the verge of 40 rather than on the verge of 50Wish a click of the fingers could wipe away our last 10 years.
Go to the SANFL or local division footy if you want to socialise. It's more accessible, cheaper, arguably a better more casual environment, and means more to the clubs and league. The social side of footy is the only thing that's kept me going otherwise I would have checked out. But I have missed quite a few home games this year due to losing respect for the club.
Agree 100% on second para.
Probably been posted but this thread moves so quickly!
Whateley basically said “Who else are ya gonna get?”
Lambasting frustrated Port fans for calling for the coaches head, without any plan for what happens after that…is this guy serious?
Whately is just a version of Kornes without the football career or a gym membership.
I use to go to a few home Magpies games every year but recently have been too frustrated with their approach & performance to bother. Half the time it doesn't look like they're even trying.Go to the SANFL or local division footy if you want to socialise. He is a massive turd so might take a few flushesWhateley needs his head flushed in a toilet
Ex coach and ex Football Director - he literally managed a football department and called this out.Lethal absolutely spot on. You could tell that as an ex-coach he was seriously angry with the "we're not good enough" comments.
I can’t bring myself to go. The idea of sitting there watching them got destroyed is too much to bare. I sort of half pretend our SANFL doesn’t even exist now, ignorance is bliss I guess.I use to go to a few home Magpies games every year but recently have been too frustrated with their approach & performance to bother. The funny thing is he thinks he's insulting us.He can be a real weasel sometimes. “They’ll get Kenny eventually, and presumably think it’ll fix everything”
What a condescending and patronising twat. How about do your job as a broadcaster and canvas the opinion of the fanbase rather than what you did last year when you labelled supporters who wanted change a “lunatic fringe”, and then when they have been proven right this year, refer to them as a bloodthirsty mob as a way to dehumanise them further. F*ck him.
In amongst Gerard’s embarrassing, fawning defence of Ken he actually says the only thing that needs to be said. No coach makes it 12 years without a GF appearance and then survives a season of obvious decline.
His subsequent “Port fan bad” narrative makes absolutely no sense in the context of this comment, which has proven true throughout the 150 plus year history of Australian Rules Football.
No supporter base, of any club, has accepted it. Ever. So why should we?
He's no journo, he's Australia's biggest brown nose.A wimp indeed, you're right.
Haha this guy is seriously a ****en cuck. Shut up loser I will pummel you.
"And so the angry mob BOO'D the coach, It's a nasty way to treat a good and loyal man"
Like he's reading a book to children, we are somehow the villains in the story and poor innocent Kenny is being bullied. I am actually laughing out loud at this. It's the single worst piece of media from a journo I've ever heard.
This. I really felt for Matty when he left that day. It had to happen, but you knew that he’d given it his all and really still loved the club, still does. It still felt like the players wanted to play for him, we just weren’t good enough. This is an entirely different situation2011-12 was sad
This is infuriating

Maybe it's time to reconsider targeting the happy clapper crowd.Right now the media heat is nothing compared to the reality of, on the 20th anniversary celebration of your only AFL premiership, half the crowd leave at 3/4 time with the remaining die hards left at Adelaide Oval booing the senior coach whenever he showed up on the screen.
A shame it wasn't 13. Then we could really celebrate it.I had an excellent pre-game exchange at my 3 year old nephew's birthday party. There were casual Port supporters there who just couldn't understand why I hated Hinkley so much. They laughed about it, completely puzzled on why I would think this way.
Then we coughed up 12 goals straight.
The good: slaughtering greyhounds.A wimp indeed, you're right.
