Remember when players used to front supporters at Alberton? Culture change need from the very top down
Shit call. our players front supporters when they can Eg magarey room etc COVID isn’t allowing it right now. Why can’t he have a beer on a Sunday night with a team mate? Ollies done nothing wrong, one of the few who deserved a beer after Saturday’s game.

coaches in an argy bargy on the night, players arguing in the rooms before the game, players on the piss for days after the cats win. yes the buck stops with ken but an accumulation of factors led to the poor performance

Kochie thought Saturday was a aberration and wanted to look at the data and stats ill give you two stats about Ken and why he isn't the right man for the job anymore and show you why Saturday wasn't anything strange or not to be expected.

This stat includes teams that were in the top 4 during the season or finished inside the top 4 at the conclusion of the home and away season and we versed them in the finals.
Since hiring Ken in 2013 we've come up against 62 top 4 teams, we've lost 47 of these encounters and won a measly 15, 24%. You know the saying to be the best you have to beat the best, Ken clearly doesn't.

The Jump the Dogs got on us in the first quarter shouldn't have been a surprise either considering we've let them get out to 21 point and 16 point margins earlier this year. But its not just the Dogs getting the jump on us its basically everyone Ken cant even get the players up and going from the first bounce anymore.
Finals included
2018 22 games 11 first quarters lost 1 drawn 47% of first quarters won
2019 22 games 13 first quarters lost 1 drawn 40 % of first quarters won
2020 20 games 7 first quarters lost 0 drawn 65 % of first quarters won ( shorter quarters)
2021 24 games 14 first quarters lost 0 drawn 42 % of first quarters won

If you still think Kens the right man for the job the club is doomed.

Just how perfect a situation does he need?

Last year: extra week’s break. at home. Richmond stuck in a hub. beat them last time we met.

This year: extra week’s break. at home. an undermanned Bulldogs flying here, there and everywhere. beat them last time we met.

But third time’s a charm… because reasons.

It's why Cornes said on FC last Monday in answer to Lloyd's Q is Ken under pressure? Kane said in as many words "absolutely".

Old mate had no excuses for anything but a win. Say what people will but David King nailed it here

David King is just about the only guy in the media that has questioned Hinkley for a number of years.

Not sure if this has been posted.

Hey LHR you come across as being somewhat qualified to speak on Kern and his thinking can you confirm or shoot down a theory I have on him? (anybody else who can weigh in please do)

To me Ken has very little investment in the broader Port Adelaide club, its history, its membership etc.. I don't get a sense at any point he actually truly likes the place or us (generally). That part of his job comes across as very transactional ie you pay me to coach and I coach but I don't have to buy into this other sh*t..

To me (aside from the obvious priority of family) he really only gives a toss about 'his' players (defined by the blokes he either likes or needs) it wouldnt surprise me at all to find out he really still cares about the Cats and his old footy mates more than the place that's made him a millionaire and invested a decade in his ideas.

is this true?

I’d say this is partly true. I’ve heard he (Bassett and Voss) are weirdos who you wouldn’t hang out with unless you had to. Ken’s wife is a bit aloof and refuses to attend anything club related.

Contrast this with WCE who have a coaches dinner once a month outside of the club to catch up and keep the interpersonal relationships alive because they see that as important.

I’ve said previously that Ken’s default appears to be huffing and puffing/yelling (lines up with “work harder” each presser). Eventually that becomes noise in my opinion - it’s 2021 and not every player responds to a dressing down. Apparently Goodwin doesn’t raise his voice, so the players listen because what he was to say is succinct. Hinkley seems very old school and resistant to suggestions or changes.

Schofield and Hartlett gone in just the past hour! The collapse has begun boys!!
If true re Hammer then whether inevitable or not the indecent haste is a far ken disgrace. As for Schoey didn't he sign a 2yr deal 6 weeks ago?

WTF is going on  I've had some unhealthy hatred of Ken on and off since 2015 but right now it's off the charts.

As for Koch i've got nothing but contempt.

Jason Dunstall was scathing of Port's prelim faceplant, but Gerard Whateley doesn't understand the criticism of the coach.

What a strange person Whateley is and what a strange world he must live in.

A world where leaders accept the rewards of leadership but not the responsibilities.

A world where leaders are not held accountable for their actions and shift the blame for their failures to others.

He must be planning for a future career in politics.

Yeah he's a strange cat Whateley but it's not all coaches - he's just got a particularly massive hard on for Hinkley

Grant Thomas was very clear on a former podcast where he repeatedly alluded that Whateley was a AFL stooge and its obvious is you listen to his shows.
If the AFL is happy with Koch & Ken then he will protect them.

I've always struggled with gambling in sports. I know it adds interest in the game and it's a free world, most of my mates are into it but it's never been my thing.

I've never like the greyhound industry. Personally if you must, I'd prefer they only allowed it if the dogs owner had legal obligations to look after that animal for the duration of its whole natural life.

When you're struggling to comprehend something like Saturday night it's hard not to start pondering crap thoughts like what were the dogs paying +40points before the game.

I hate how cynical I've become.

The whole club, marketing, sales etc live by the we exist to win premierships tag line. I feel for them as they cop the sh*t we invariably serve up when putting holds on auto renewals. However, the senior coach and footy staff arent measured by this. Its staggering really.

I am not naïve enough to think a new coach means a flag next year. I just want to see something different

Amazing resilience shown by Kenny, if it was me I would seriously have questioned myself and my ability to deliver the desired results.
My resignation would have been offered at least twice over the last nine years.

Although even if Kenny tried I don't think Kochie would except it for any reasons other than health.

I've obviously got no idea, from a far though he seems a decent mentor and could be a great fit in a player development role.
As head coach, I just can't remember the last time I watched us win a game where I thought we beat a team that had better cattle on the park.

I think I've finally figured out the problem with Koch.

He was rabbiting on about Ken having the best winning record of any Port coach at 60% or whatever and how it's his job to take out the emotion and look at the facts bla bla bla. Koch is a finance guy, he's used to looking at an array of numbers to assess the performance of a business and projecting as to what that business will do in the future. So when it comes to Port he's looking at winning percentages, membership numbers, long term trajectory, list profiles, comparisons to our perceived main competitor (the Crows), etc. In almost all respects Ken has kept our performance stable over the long term and we've never been too far from at least a mini spike to inspire confidence in the long term.

The trouble is, we're not an ASX200 company. We're not looking for steady growth, we're looking to win premierships. That big sign above Koch's head in the board room saying "We Exist To Win Premierships" actually means something - it is in fact the ONLY metric that matters at this football club. We actually don't care how many games he wins in the home and away season. Deliver a premiership or it counts for absolutely nothing. Koch simply doesn't get this aspect of football and in particular this aspect of Port Adelaide.

We will remain good but not great until Hinkley is gone. The players have accepted mediocrity under ken. After Saturdays loss i have now accepted this mediocrity as a supporter. Port will hover around the top 8 for another 10 years but we aren’t achieving anything of substance under Ken.

I will still buy a membership and show up to each home game. I just question if my passion to really ride every bump and believe in the team is there anymore. A feeling of numbness towards the club would be the best way to describe it right now.

Well, premiership numbers under his watch is 0! So why doesn't he assess that already?

Crows supporting friend after Thursday night said words to the effect of "surely they can't continue with him"

when those across the swamp pick up on it, it's only a matter of time before the mainstream falls in line

probably will take another year though
They already know! They just don't admit it because, well.. why would they? They want Port to fail. What's the quote? "Never interrupt your enemy while they're making mistakes" or something like that, that's what's happening right now

Wow. So when Boak was in tears in the post match interview on 5aa you think he was “faking” it? And you want us to crash and burn next year. Nice.
Yes, because it's fake, if you haven't realized people act differently when there's a camera around your head is in the clouds, I bet he hasn't gone to other people in the club pleading to toss out old mate with the same ferventcy because he part of the protection racket

You should take Tim G out of that

Ginever sounds like he wants to knife ken but always ends up apologizing or sympathizing with the club , then deflects the question with a giggle or an old story, hes got greased palms
