Don't need to push the Victorian rhetoric that only Victorian football means anything and that football only started in SA in 1991. When you see Victorians quote Fos Williams or Jack Oatey or even know who they are it will become more acceptable. And going around quoting VFL "greats" and appropriating their culture as football culture does nothing but reinforce their beliefs that its true.

Sorry for being the fly in your ointment, but I don't live in that vacuum. I respect whoever has earnt respect, be them Victorian or Yugoslavian or Icelandian or wherever. I am not pushing the rhetoric that exists in your head, I am accepting reality...and I call stuff how I see it

Gut says that we finish 5-8 next season, but a Top 4 finish, or missing the finals entirely wouldn’t surprise. It all feels irrelevant. The problem is, despite the noise coming out of the club, there is no genuine belief that we can take the next step. Installing that belief is a fundamental of winning flags, and we don’t have it under this regime. Nothing will change until Hinkley is gone and we have new ideas and philosophies at the club that can help build some genuine, non-surface level belief.

That maybe so but I don't accept re-writing history for self glorification and if you ask any average Victorian, Barassi invented attacking handpassing and the overlap game and a thug is the greatest player to play the game. Have a read of the description attached to Jack Oatey's elevation to Legend status. Gave no credit except to redefine the way the game was played in SA.

I dont think this is true but even if it is who gives a shit what an ignorant person believes.

There are victorian greats, south australian greats and wa greats in football history. Pretending not to know about some because someone else doesnt know about some others is a tingles approach. Port is better than that.

Well good luck in your 'crusade'. Frankly I don't give a shit what Victorians or anyone else think. I only worry about why we don't have any new silverware

Ken Hinkley (10/09/21): "I said 10 or 12 weeks ago: wait until the end of the year. Wait and judge us when we can get all our people that we need on the team playing well together, give us some continuity back together and we can play at a high level.”

Ken Hinkley (30/09/21): “I will say this, don’t judge us by one game, judge us by the collective.”

Name another coach who would get away with this level of contradictory messaging on either side of losing a home Prelim by 71 points as 1.40 favourites — either externally (media tearing him limb from limb) or internally (the board and admin shifting uneasily in their seats while coterie groups and prominent members scrambled to form tickets, and the rank’n’file grabbed their torches and pitchforks)?

This is genuinely insane.

Alyx this calls for another We Were Port Adelaide graphic. Disgusting, indefensible stuff.

I doubt the oft quoted Victorian arrogance is as bad with the average Victorian football supporter as many (particularly) from SA and WA probably believe.

A lot of It stemmed from those two clowns Jack Dyer, and his garden gnome mate Lou Richards with their BS lack of respect for anything west of the Vic/SA border.

Part of it was obviously an act, but how the f*** Richards was continually allowed to get away when calling state games on national tv with what bordered on racist comments with his `haven't they got funny names over there ' crap, which was usually followed up with an attempt at early primary school humour.

The VFL had numerous players of European origin, and he could pronounce their names ok, so it was obviously an act, but geez it used to annoy the sh*t out of me.

Lou Richards is of Greek heritage, think grandfather. He was named captain of the Greek team of the century.

Sad but true. Can see it playing out like this as well.
As supporters, we should be able to go into a new season with hope. That's supposed to be the beauty of footy, "there's always next year", but surley you'd be excused as a filthy Port supporter if you had lived through  (see what Edgie said), with no admission of fault from the common doniminator, cretin of a coach or those at the club who keep giving him contracts. It's undoubtedly insane.

As a supporter, I feel like for 2022, let's just shit the bed as expected and get it over with. But on the bright side, if Koch and Ken are ousted from our club, it'll be the best Port related celebration that many of us would have experienced in 17 years, which is pretty bloody sad TBH.

I will give you an ironclad guarantee that if you mention Port Adelaide's 37 Premierships you will hear these words word for word. "They mean nothing you are in the big league now" Mention any South Australian as a great of the game such as Russell Ebert, Barrie Robran or Ken Farmer you will hear the words. But they didn't play in the VFL. Then you say Ebert did. Then you get stunned silence and "Did he win a Brownlow". Mention Bob Quinn and they'll say, wasn't he in Lawrence of Arabia and as for Ken Farmer they will stare blankly - as you say he kicked over 1000 goals and then say not in the big league. Infuriating!

One good retort is John Coleman - wasn't he the host of Wonderworld.

I'm bored

Only a moron or a troll would say they mean nothing. Cant spend your life or energy worrying about the words of morons and trolls.

Twenty days.
Twenty.

One thing that first quote tells you, they all thought they would win it.
From Coach down to boot studder, they thought it would just happen.
