No way. His tenure legacies are - one major sponsor, 10 mil+ in debt, "We have a top 4 list" - pre season 2015, reason for extending Stinkley "Players gravitate to him".

I truly believe Hinkley lost his edge when Walsh was murdered in 2015 and Paul Couch died in early 2016. Facing mortality will do funny things to people and in this instance it has shifted footy meaning everything to footy being just a part of life.

Yes, in the grand scheme of things it isn’t up there, but people who succeed in professional sports are consumed by their chosen pursuits. We cannot have a head coach teaching players it is ok to lose because football doesn’t matter in life. Absolutely teach players there is life outside of football, but within the walls of Alberton and out on the playing field, football is the ONLY thing that is important.

I just don't understand this rhetoric and I don't buy it for one second. The obvious answer is don't coach an AFL club. Winning is not everything, it's the only thing.

When we first hired him he was intense and driven. Look back at his early pressers in 13/14 and he was scathing of poor performances and losing.

The onus is on the club not to have noticed the change or the burying of heads in the sand. People change, it happens, but it’s the clubs fault for letting it to continue.

I dunno. The 'poor Hinkley' narrative is in hyperdrive. He's been given every possible resource and excuse and still plays the victim.

I think an important thing to note about this is that all these extensions came with a year or more remaining on Ken's contract. Not once in his 10 seasons has he ever even been in the last 12 months in a deal. And yet we still get complaints that the club is somehow too hard on him.
Was it Koch that said that Hinkley can't be expected to coach not knowing if he'll have a job in two years' time as justification for the premature contract extensions?

They thought progress was linear.
Not only do Koch and the board believe that progress is linear they also believe that if you have stability in the head coach's position it is just a matter of time before you win a flag.

Kenny just needs more time.

I wonder why he is the darling of the AFL and the media? Can you imagine any other coach serving up that shit year in year out and not be under the pump?

Is it a case of no one can admit they were wrong and the Emperor is in fact nude?
Dear god, Hinkley nude. As if it isn't bad enough without that mental image. Send yourself to the naughty corner.

yet in 2017 he went behind the clubs back to manipulate his contract extension by using GC as a lever!!!

he also suffers alopecia!! now get mental image out of your mind
That I don't care about, I've long since realised a receding hairline means go for the shaved head unless you want to look desperate. It's his general unfitness physically as well as mentally that's a disturbing image.

I was reflecting on this earlier today. I feel cheated.
Cheated and angry. I don't expect flags every year, despite the strawman gaslighting from the club/media, but I want a club that looks like it gives a damn. I'm pissed at Port in part because my kids never 'stuck' with them. Eldest born in 2005, youngest 2007. Their early football memories are the windswept bowl of Footy park watching us flogged, looking inept, with no hope of things getting better. With the added bonus of Crows branding everywhere to confuse young kids, who are we even seeing here? A brief return to something decent in 2013-2014, only to be so poor again since. Not just the results, but how badly everything has been done off-field.

Fits in with someone that faced mortality. Went looking out for his own first and foremost. Winning is a distant memory compared to looking after himself and his family.

there is nothing 'be careful what you wish for' in sacking Ken. what a defeatist attitude.
At least the new coach will be a fresh voice. The message has clearly become stale over the past few years, and that message needs to come from someone else.

I can't wait until we have a new coach that the fans can get behind. Haven't felt the feeling of optimism since late 2012-early 2015.

Even with the 2015 season being a failure, I gave Ken the benefit of the doubt due to the 2013/14 seasons, while going into 2016.

Right now, it doesn't get much worse than this.

"I'd much rather finish the season well than start well".

Another dumb, deluded comment to go with "It wasn't like a normal loss", "If we play like that we'll win more than we lose" and "Success is never linear".

1) If you don't start the season well than your season doesn't end in a grand final, it ends in a round 23 dead rubber.

2) Well you finished last season shit and you started this season shit so you're really not delivering on either at the moment.

There's something not quite right at Port Adelaide - N. Buckley

I just heard that sound bite, I don't care about the context stick the boots in Bucks.
When someone hears more on this and if the Vic media are actually questioning things at PA report back here please.
