When I was making my way into the Cats clash last Saturday, I noticed a couple of patrons had a small cardboard sign with an anti-Hinkley message removed by security. I only had a quick glance “Piss off Hinkley” all that was on there.

Obviously not allowable under the Adelaide Oval code of conduct.
Conditions of Entry | Adelaide Oval Ensure banners, signs, clothing or other observable materials are free of obscene, discriminatory and/or indecent message

Out of curiosity I contacted Adelaide Oval directly this week for clarification. Not that I was planning to do anything but some of the code of conduct is somewhat open to interpretation and being barred from the ground etc.

I guess this is covered generically under The SMA reserves the right to impose penalties for incidents not covered above as required.

If someone were to bring a sign, poster or small banner that simply said “Sack Hinkley” or “Leave Ken” “Adios Koch” No vulgar language etc used, would this be permitted?

I followed up if any direction or instruction has been provided by the AFL clubs in muting dissatisfied spectators (Port Adelaide in particular)

I did not get a response however they must have figured I was a Port fan and or Member and my details were passed on directly to the club.

A club representative called me to have a chat. Not sure if they thought I was planning on leading some type of mass protest.:D
Perhaps they have seen some of my criticisms in recent times.

I was unfortunately half asleep at the time in bed with the flu, but it was a friendly, civil and professional chat.

No specific direction has been given to the SMA but anything containing personal abuse they will be hot on or anything that covers signage, sponsorship etc. Bed sheets hanging from the grandstand, forget it.

The club get a report from security regarding incidents each game. As with other public club messaging, they hear and see the frustration etc. I think they know deep down it is getting to near on impossible to contain a section of the current supporter base. Especially with specific stats being shared and posted on a regular basis that simply cannot be disputed.

I won’t go into all the discussion topics and it would be fair to say we agree to disagree on a couple things but I got the impression the membership department in particular is getting smashed daily with calls and correspondence.

Please see my post from earlier in the month, I emailed AO:

Honestly I don't know why everyone has got so heated up over this. Should have been laughed off from the start by anyone connected to the club. Then dudes on here are acting in the same way. I mean "How dare they say that?" Who cares ? They kick a bit of leather around. They don't save babies from burning buildings.
Because they KNOW!
Only blind fools can’t see it.

“We were trying to survive off the field, so we did take the eye off (football), and the results reflect that,” Duncanson said. “We were volunteers, putting in 30-40 hours a week. There were successful businessmen on that board being thwarted by outsiders saying, ‘We know better’ on how to run a football club. The SANFL was telling us, ‘You don’t know what you are doing’. They brought in their own independent assessors.”

Sounds like the people in this thread.

I don’t know better. I wouldn’t do better. It’s not about me. It’s about Port!

All I know is that the club should do better. The fact that the club doesn’t recognize that is the issue.

Yikes.

Will reiterate.

It wasn't the prelims blowout loss against the Bulldogs missing key players

It wasn't the 0-5 season start

It wasn't the 0 wins against top 8 sides this year

It wasn't the mathematical finals elimination last week

It was the Sack Hinkley sticker that has brought up these discussions

I’m pretty sure Tom Rockliff is staying around the corner from me.

I’m really thinking about putting a sticker up there.

I think Looney Juice should be the one to ring Ken up and tell him "you're sacked"

Pass me the phone📞

'Hello Ken, it's you're Official Toastie Ingredient Consultant Loony Juice. I hope you are well. Pack your bags and lower the blinds, as you are officially terminated'

SACK KENNY DONUTS

He’s a liar. Who drives from inner West Beach and doesn’t just go straight down Tapleys Hill Rd? He would have driven past it and it ******* stings him that he saw it.
There's two signs, one on the up track and one on the down track. Which one had the sticker?
