From a psychological standpoint its an absolute masterclass in manipulation via lowering expectations. Its like watching a documentary on a serial killer and seeing how they got away with it.

You're giving him too much credit. He's not some kind of mastermind, he's just lucky.

The lowering of expectations is external. The external narrative surrounding our club is that our natural place in the order is as a bottom of the barrel team and that anything better than that (ie mid table mediocrity) is a good effort and in fact probably an achievement. In that context Hinkley looks like a genius.

All of this of course is enabled by a Chairman and now also a CEO who buy into said little battler club narrative and have no genuine ambition for the club to be successful.

Adam Cooney mentioned this morning that he had thought the supporter base that disliked Hinkley was about 30% but upon reading twitter replies on the SENSA page he thinks it may be closer to 50%.

I reckon we as frustrated supporters might need to pump those numbers up even more…drown out the noise of the happy clappers.

'White noise'......... but in saying that how else do you show your frustration? write a letter and pop it in the post? Club survey?

It's beyond belief that this is even a question.

When you think about it, if a premiership coach had the sort of zombie year that we're having right now in his 10th year at a club, he'd be under serious pressure and there would be serious questions being asked. Hinkley continuing to escape all scrutiny is quite incredible.
It perfectly highlights the lack of respect & relevance our club has in the competition. That is an indictment on our leadership & makes me furious.

We are one of the least respected and least relevant clubs in the league. Our continued inability to play in grand finals despite opening up good opportunities to do so (2 grand final appearances from 6 top 2 finishes) has given us the image of a minnow and it's only getting worse with every year that passes.

I still often think back to Kens words last year. "Dont judge us on our home and away season, judge us after finals."

We then get fisted at home in a prelim, as pathetic and embarrassing a display as you will see when so much was in our favour. Pressed post game about it, he goes on to suggest, "it is not the right time to talk about it..." Then, he goes unsighted over summer, bounds back in and says "we are coming" dismissed the embarrassment of season prior, stating that "we must live in the now..." We then go on to be 0-5 with deplorable performances against Hawthorn and Melbourne at home as well the first half against Carlton and the capitulation v Adelaide.

So, we still have not spoken about being judged on finals last year and we didn't live in the now this year until the results went our way.

You could not make this up. This as much on Richo and the board as it is on Ken.
This... SACK this potato today!

I'm holding onto a whisker of hope that Hinkley is not coach in '23 but a friend shares none at all. He's waiting for the club to ark up the hype of the women's season, hope that it's destracting us enough so that they slide in a confirmation that Ken is coaching us in '23. It isn't beyond them you know. I mean, we're coming off a loss that added a nail into the coffin of our finals chances and they send us an unimportant out of the ordinary stat of TJ's rebounds.

Just imagine the difference in atmosphere at our first home game next year if Hardwick or Clarkson is our new coach, as opposed to starting year 11 under Hinkley. The place would be packed to the rafters with a new man in charge - with Ken it could be sub 20,000. Oh but we can't afford to sack him.......
I won’t be there if it’s Hinkley, totally made up my mind now.

Disliking him may only be 50%, but surely no more than 10% of people actually want him to coach next year.

The burning question that the Board needs to urgently address is how many fans are they prepared to alienate before they react and do what's in the best interests of the club and its supporters. Hinkley has had enough time, been given enough "missing pieces" in the team structure. He has failed and it's time for him and the club to bid each other farewell. No malice, just recognise that it's time.
