Why does everyone always forget Ken Hinkley is a boring non drinker (not that there's anything wrong with it, or not drinking automatically equals boring, but as I've said before, it's a part of the larger tapestry of 'boring ken').

He would not be a knockabout bloke at the pub. Bloke can't even stand to be in a room with reporters asking legit questions. No way he could share space with loud people who may hold different views and attitudes to him. He'd be at home eating ham sandwiches. Maybe in a shed. Maybe in a shed with mates he's already vetted, at the most.
Somebody gave Kenny a beer once and he tossed it over his left shoulder.

Fwiw, I think koch's departure is more important at this stage than Kens. While Koch is in charge I just can't see him moving Ken on, he seems to be either enamored with him, or scared of him?! The anuerysm Koch almost had on sunrise when they linked Clarko to port due to his Adl trip was embarrassing! He seemed almost offended by it.

My greatest fear right now is that with our softer draw and healthier list next year, we perhaps hover outside the top 4, the media start the "why hasn't Kenny been extended yet" convo and Koch caves!

We need a president who's happy to take the heat, stare down the vic mouthpieces and do what's in the best interests of the club, someone who won't be coyed by country bumpkin greyhound racing failures.

There is significant cultural damage being done by the current regime which will be difficult to undo even when they're finally gone.

These dickheads have taken a proud club with a winning mentality - albeit one which struggled to perform under pressure ('97-'12) - and turned it into a soft, weak club who think success is too difficult to achieve.

The next coach will have a very difficult time trying to turn this mentality around, assuming they're even aware that it needs to be turned around which is not a given.

This is why I favour an ex player in future coach discussions. We need someone who knows Port Adelaide and won't apologise for taking it back to where it needs to be if it wants to be competitive in this league.

Forget changing the coach and expecting things to change. The culture at the club is rotten from the top down. Need a change at almost every level to get the ruthlessness back and to remove the infestation that has become a private country club for so many wannabe hacks.

Not sure about this "softer fixture" thing. Barring (see what I did there?? ;) ) an apocalypse this week, we finish either 11th or 12th, so in the "middle six". That's basically the same level of difficulty that the team finishing 7th may face. We know we'll get the Crows twice, and quite likely 3 of this season's top 8 and another bottom six team. So we'd be expecting wins in only two of our five double-ups, and one of those is always 50-50. I don't see us finishing 2023 much higher than this year TBH - we're not changing anything significant and the rest of the competition has figured out how to play us.

'Hey Kenny Luke Skywalker tossed his lightsaber over his shoulder in that new movie, it reminded me of you!'

'Hahaha I wouldn't know much about that sorta stuff mate, just Hey Hey It's Saturday reruns for me, I had Donna record some tapes back in the day when I had to play footy'

Matthew Primus on where Robbie Gray stands in the pantheon of Port Adelaide greats ...

"Robbie and Warren Tredrea are at the top of the tree (of Port Adelaide's greatest AFL players). It is so hard to separate two superstars. For longevity, for playing at a super high level for such a long time, the way he changed games, for me the best are Tredrea and Gray. They stand out for what they did for so long."

Take notes on how to respect club greats Daddy Donuts you f***face.

Port players with a media agenda to say they hate the crows

Usually whenever the club talks their actions don’t follow though

Expect a big loss?

Another example of Hinkley’s fraudulent culture

Very odd isn't it , why not just talk about Robbie

Yeah sure - he said himself that if he didn't make the Grand Final this year he wouldn't be coach of Port Adelaide.

NEWSFLASH - HE"S STILL HERE!
As much as I want a change. That's not Hinkley's fault. That's the fault of his employer. I agree with some of the posters here, holding up signs and carrying on like a pork chop is only going to make us look like idiots. We're at the mercy of those that run the club. Simple.

If your employer pulls you into the office and says "You haven't accomplished your goal here in the last 10 years, you have 3 years to it" would you walk after you haven't accomplished it after 2 more? I doubt the terms of his contract are even as explicit as that. Also, who's the dumb one? The employee who doesn't quit 2 years into a 3 year appointment for not accomplishing his goals, or the employer not including stipulations in that contract that align with the employer's goals? How can you say you aim to win 3 premierships in 5 years and not included performance clauses in a 3 year contract that include winning a premiership?

At some point, does being a male 30+ years old, and having as much chest hair as a primary schooler, become... not masculine?
No, you should consider yourself a lucky bastard. No choice between looking like one of the 'before' frames in the evolution of man, shaving or other means of keeping it under control.

Daddy Donuts claims Robbie as the clubs best because he sees it as a reflection on himself and his success. Basically saying Robbie is so great because I made him great.

I detest the man.

The statistics don’t actually match up with your ratings, you know. We were weaker this year but not by the margin you’re suggesting.

1884 to 1492 in 2021
1695 to 1583 in 2022

86 points for, 68 points against
81 points for, 75 points against

5 less points scored per game - which I say is a result of Dixon, Lycett and Fantasia not being available for the entire year, considering we are 18th for hitouts per game, similar to 2016.

7 more points conceded. Definitely due to replacing Montgomery with Cornes who started the year off extremely poorly but has gotten better - but not good enough.

12 points missing per game - which was the difference between Brisbane, Adelaide, Carlton, Richmond, Fremantle, Geelong and Collingwood. 12 points would have had us at 14 wins, 2 draws and 5 losses - 60 points and 4th on the ladder coming into the final round.

But what I’m saying is that Dixon, Fantasia and Lycett are good for more than just 12 points a game. I’m saying if you get Dunkley as well and add another goal kicking forward/mid, you’re looking at 90> points per game for and <65 points against.

At the start of this year my main concern was where we would find the explosive mid that we need to challenge the best teams and give them something to think about. By the end of this year we will have that in Rozee and his forward line replacement at the draft.

We’re talking incremental differences.
Janus,

We have averaged one less goal per game for each game of the year so average score would be 12-9 or probably 11-15.
You say its because of 3 players missing but give no data or evidence to back up your claim.
Here's some data
Leading Goalkickers
2022: Marshall 40, Powell-Pepper 23, Georgiades 22, Finlayson 21, Rozee 17, Dixon 16, Gray 12, Farrell 11, Motlop 10, Boak 10, Butters 9
2021: Dixon 48, Georgiades 32, Fantasia 28, Marshall 24, Rozee 21, Gray 20, Motlop 13, Ladhams 13, Amon 11, Powell-Pepper 10, Wines 10

Tall Forwards
2022 - 99 Goals
2021 - 117 Goals

Small Forwards
2022 - 73 Goals
2021 - 92 Goals

The 2022 data has one game less

So both tall & smalls are scoring less

I've looked long into the numbers and I didn't see what I expected. I expected to see that because we play an extra at the contest so much that if we lost contested ball we would lose the game. ie workery hardery longery and you win.
What I did see was that if we won the contested ball by more than 10 we won 5 and lost 2. So we can still win the contested ball by plenty and still lose the game. Same with most metrics we could win or lose and it didn't really affect the result.

What I did see was on occasions that we concede more than 80pts its usually 2 big forwards get hold of us or at least one really big one.

80pts Brisbane Daniher (201cm) 4 Fort (204cm) 2
120 pts Hawthorn Lewis (199cm) 5 Gunston (193cm) 3
96pts Adelaide Himmelberg (200cm) 4 Gollant (192cm) 4
94pts Carlton Curnow (192cm) 5 McKay (204cm) 3
82pts Geelong Cameron (196cm) 3 Hawkins (198cm) 2
91pts Gold Coast Chol (200cm) 3 Casboult (199cm) 2
99pts Fremantle Lobb (206cm) 5 Taberner (197cm) 2
83pts Melbourne Pickett (171cm) 6 Brown (200cm) 2
106pts Geelong Hawkins (198cm) 4 Cameron (196cm) 3
109pts Richmond Lynch (199cm) 4 Bolton (175cm) 4

Outlier Collingwood multiple goalkickers mostly small forwards

Make of this what you want but in my opinion our issue is in defence not in attack and its how our coaching staff setup our defence and this has been the case since Howard was asked to leave, so you can't put this on Chadbro alone.

Some of the numbers I saw made a mockery of work harder for longer

example beat Collingwood by 15 in contested ball and 8 at clearances and still lose.

So we are stuck with Kenny next year I can't see him going any where just to fck us over .
So now I WANT the club to tell him its G.F next season or your out the door.
I wish to say flag but our club doesn't have the balls to do that

No. The time for GF being acceptable was in his 9th season.

Needs to go end of next year without a flag. Even with a flag Id probably say enough is enough.
