Two observations
If we hadn't gifted them multiple goals we would have won. We'll learn from that.
When Paddy took that mark I saw the number one draft pick in his very early days.
Lee deserves a run next week .
That's three.

We should have won that game!

Didnt get help from the umpires and we shot ourselves in the foot way too many times.

Cant do that against a quality side as they'll make you pay.

Theres so much to like about this side. Our young fellas are starting to come through.

Unlucky Sainters, pick yourself up and dust yourself off.
Gws next week.

We are building.

Yeah this one burns a bit. TBH the Cyril one annoyed me most of all. Just good, hard play and cos he got smashed it was a free.

Still, despite it all Paddy had the chance to kick a hero goal at the end to win it. It's the thought of him and Bruce together in the forward line for the next four years that makes it palatable.

As much as this hurts, how good is that it does, and isn't just a ho-hum honourable loss or "well we expected that" thumping?

Be excited Sainters, we're on our way, the last two weeks show that. Now the hysteria of the Bulldogs game is exposed for the rubbish it was. We're definitely heading places.

Hold on to this feeling lads and lasses, savour it; its the moment we turned the corner and headed back to the summit!

COME ON SAINTERS!!!! :D

On the whole the umps weren't bad but those few bad calls gifting them goals in the last killed us.....

But so proud of our boys, take heart that our boys fought and fought and fought.
F50 entries & foot skills were the biggest differences between the 2 sides today, Ross Newnes and Acres (in the last), gee they look good. McCartin & Bruce up fwd, Lee wasn't to bad against the comp's best. Minch just knows where to go to snag a goal, Billings all class, Lonie is a such a scrapper, real fight.

Hawks were just a tad to clean at the end, our f50 entries in the 3rd cost us more than the umps in the 4th. Still proud, still a momentum building game

Well... Screw the umpiring, there were some good moments and some great plays but we could have won that despite the umpiring. No one to blame, we let them have to much run in that last quarter and got hemmed in our half... Thats happened twice now - and the composure will come - but I really like were we are going! Well done SAINTS!

The most annoying thing is Richo will be the bigger man go on about how we had our chances and we blew them eg Paddy and yes it's true but The non calls including many holding the ball decisions as well as those 20 meter kicks cost us the game just as much and I'd just wish we'd cop the fine once and just spray the umpires

I'll contribute to the fine :)

Yeah big Tommy Lee had 19 possessions from a back pocket, a couple of rookie mistakes but heaps to work with. Paddy is getting 25% better every week. He's going to be a good player possibly even a special one.

Brilliant effort by us today. Keep taking them on, sure we'll make heaps of mistakes and give opposition easy turnover goals but you're not going to get really good always taking the safe option. Learning to play on under extreme pressure is the only way forward.

Wasn't the umpires. We had our chances and just fell short.
That has to be our benchmark.
As we learn to execute a little better we will capitalise on the opposition mistakes we generate from our own pressure.
Bloody good signs. Gutted we lost but very optimistic.

Thought Paddy was gonna nail it for us and write his own little piece of history.
He will be special for us over the journey.

they better because theres no excuse for calling a kick that travels 10metres wider than the goals, from the goal square less than 15

And the umpiring department will come out with the age old "yeah he may have gotten that one wrong"

No consolation

We have reached our nadir, now it's back to the zenith! There is a lot to like about the potential we have at the Saints. Go boys!
