Obrien will murder the Finlayson / Dixon combo. The good thing is that should tire both the port players and make them less of a threat up forward. Hopefully between Butts, Murray, Worrell and Doedee we have enough options to cover Georgiades and Marshall. Even if one or two are having bad nights the others should be right.

Walker and Fog and TT vs Jonas and Aliir will be a good battle.

Keays should be able to nullify who ever he goes onto and hurt enough going the other way.

I guess then its the battle of mids, flankers and small forwards and our keep it in tight vs their get it out open gameplans. Hopefully we can win that as well. We're paying $3.18, tempting.

I see your ROB destroying opponents fetish continues unabated despite a terrible year. You must really taps that do nothing to progress our performance.

Darcy Byrne-Jones: “Personally, I don’t hold anything against them as people. But as a club, I don’t really like their club – it’s a pretty simple answer.”

Bryne-Jones’ remark was uploaded to the AFL’s Instagram account with Adelaide’s Josh Rachele commenting on the post with a simple: “Lol”.

Yep, he's one of us.

What? He’s not murdering anyone currently.

With McAdam out and losing his ability to lead and compete in air with long bombs and average entries along with Gollant kicking 5 goals last week and great game last showdown it is real head shaking stuff that Milera with 1 decent game all year and no marking contest ability comes in .
Just another of Nicks selection wonders.
With the midget brigade plus Milera up forward Allir etc are going to have fun.

There is Tex, Fog and RT with marking presence. We also lose McAdams ability to work up the ground and apply pressure which Milera can do. Also if we want marking power we could move Dawson up forward seeing we are stacked with defenders.

It does look like it’ll be a wet night.

far out just saw the Wines and Byrne-Jones comments - Were they told to say that by the club? I'd really hate if any of our players fell to that kind of lame shit-talking and I hope Rachele's "Lol" is as far as any Crow player goes

Their comments are actually hilarious and more a reflection on themselves -

Nick's brought in Crouch for a forward going out recently. McAdam out is a loss as it disrupts our structure. Milera isn't a forward so I expect they will play him around half back with Hinge and Jones on the wing. I think they may play Dawson up forward at times who can take a mark. McHenry. Murphy, Rowe in the same team is never a good thing.

Johnas to I believe, they made the mistake of all using the same language.

All it is is pathetic posturing from a club that has failed to live up to their own expectations.

It’s no coincidence that Wines, Jonas and earlier in the week, Cornes have all come out with more or less the same statement.

Port fans are rightfully pissed off at their club, so their media team is trying to hype up this game and get them focussed on the rivalry in the hopes they get a win to take some heat off.

Wines and Jonas’ comments don’t really piss me off, it’s the same stuff they always go on about.

Chad’s comments were just pathetic. “We need to put in a Port Adelaide performance”, what does that even mean? Because this seasons results have been Ken Hinkley’s Port Adelaide 101.

I don’t feel the need to be overly physical to certain individuals. Our boys bring intensity and physicality every week, let’s just get a win and put them back in their box as our poor little brother.

Is a Port Adelaide performance ala the 2007 GF or the 2021 Preliminary Final?

What actually is it? It is like the Shinboner spirit - when you win you say it is that, when you lose that is unlike Port/Roos. It is cods wallop.

This is sad….. if I was a port supporter I’d be embarrassed about their propaganda.
Nothin' proper about your propaganda
Fools follow rules when the set command ya

I think Byrne-Jones was told to say it but realised it was a bit stupid and tried to soften it by saying he didn’t have a problem with the players.

just trying to take the heat of Kern...get fans talking about Crows hatred instead of Kern hatred

Pretty Meh about this Showdown.

Positives about Winning:

1. End season on a high note and 4 game win streak. This will be only the 2nd time we have won 4 games in a row in the last 5 seasons. Will be a possible good selling point to lure prospective players.

2. Squares up the Showdown Ledger.

3. Makes for a negative offseason for the Pear.

Negatives about winning:

1. Lose potential draft capital by rising up the ladder. We could technically rise to 11th if we beat the Pear by 160 points.
And North beat the Suns. Can't see that happening. That result would be known going into the match anyway.
Realistically the worst a win could do is bump us up ahead of Hawthorn.
A loss could drop us back behind Essendon, but can't see them beating Richmond.

$3+ odds on any side in any Showdown is good value I reckon.

As for my final siren dream script? Tex (having already kicked 9 for the match) winning a free kick on the goal line with us up by 118 points and lining up for a behind.

I would have North favorites now. Suns have been woeful lately and North will have a spring in their step after this mornings news.
