Do you think Scomo realises just how stupid he is going to look at Glasgow? He's going to get slammed on the world stage.

I'm struggling to find a single media reference to what is surely the most important areas of concern in relation to Morrison's announcement in relation to what he will take to Glasgow Summit on Thursday?

The COP 26 UN Climate Change Conference Summit in Glasgow is actually about setting targets for 2030 that align with the Paris Agreement. From the COP 26 Background document:

Countries are being asked to come forward with ambitious 2030 emissions reductions targets (NDCs) that align with reaching net zero by the middle of the century. To deliver on these stretching targets, countries will need to accelerate the phaseout of coal, encourage investment in renewables, curtail deforestation and speed up the switch to electric vehicles.

Net Zero and 2050 are NOT the focus of this meeting - this meeting is about countries outlining HOW they will get there.

Our PM is taking something that is totally irrelevant to what this critical global meeting is about.

You do remember why Pitt was made to leave Cabinet in the first place?

It was because Barnaby Joyce booted him out for one of his own National Party faction members once he regained the Deputy PM job back in June.

So this has nothing to do with 'keeping the others honest'. It's all about Joyce using the BS 2050 zero emissions 'deal' as a chance to restore some peace in his own party by reinstating Pitt without hurting his own supporters.

That is what your precious coalition thinks of climate change and the future of the planet. Just another chance to settle internal political scores.

What a friggin' joke.

Having a dissenting voice in Cabinet on the decisions around the fall out from COP26 is a plus for me. If everyone in the room are of the same view, decisions wont be as closely questioned & if we are talking 2050, take yourself back to 1991 & see how the world has changed ... all we can do today is to ensure Australia wont turn our backs on future generations, hell my grandkids wont be 40 when that rolls around.

Be sure I'll be voting at the next election with those grandkids in mind & if thats Albo, he'll get my vote. I value my vote, always have.

Morrison is going to get slaughtered in Glasgow.

You will not hear about it in Australia though. Murdoch and Sky will continue to allow Morrison to massage his own narrative.

Make no mistake, this is cash for comment on steroids. Billions of tax payers dollars are being diverted to projects and grants and simple slush funds and hand outs in exchange for positive media coverage.

This is a scam of epic proportions.

Morrison is going to get slaughtered in Glasgow.

He's essentially going to tell the forum that Australia entered an agreement until 2030, here it is again, and we will honour it. He's pushing the responsibility of making the leap to hydrogen technology onto future governments. Reasonable stance for any leader keen to preserve his country's best interests.

lol - Morrison is kicking the can down the road again. He is a laughing stock

Kicking the can, yeah. But not writing cheques taxpayers can't fund.

I hope he tells the first person to use the word "emergency" to address the Chinese problem or STFU. Even if it's Greta.

Only IF that dissenting voice and the organisation they represent is capable of presenting an informed view. And when it comes to the current lot of National Party hacks that is far from the case.

And on that point, let me refer you to item 1. Senior Nationals debating the critical issue of Terminator:

Save for the token supporter in here does anyone know people who think that Morrison is actually doing a decent job?

He is a bona fide fraud.

random260 this one's for you ^^

Also, which alt account are you using today?

I think a lot of it comes down to just incompetent laziness from click bait desk clerks asleep in their suits masquerading as journos focussed more on their appearance than doing some basic research into the issues they are supposed to be reporting.

There is deep irony in the fact that some of the sharpest scrutiny of this government is coming from several female journalists from a number of organisations (including Sam Maiden at NewsCorp).

Yes, criticism coming from some surprising quarters but i have no doubt the powers above them are keeping a very close tally.

The FriendlyJordies rant video recently posted on the Gladys Berejikilian thread certainly has some opinions on this.
