The prestige of the Rising Star is well recognised. The award itself is clearly defined, understood and has an uncontroversial voting method. It acknowledges the ‘best’ overall Rookie when considering both off-field and on-field performance with more weighting applied to the on-field.

The Rising Star is an indicator for the official Rookie award, the EKA, however this does not guarantee a dual winner.

Over the 14 seasons where both awards have existed in harmony, only 4 dual winners have been crowned:

• Season 23 – Elton Johns Wig
• Season 24 – Yakker
• Season 27 – AceAndy
• Season 33 - DragoDelph

Ok, now lets get into some data and see if we can start to piece together who the S36 Rising Star will be!

The top 10 game thread posters (by total number) are:

Observations:
Gralin is a clear frontrunner and has proven to be a frequent presence at the top of the weekly game thread a whopping NINE times. This was closely followed by King Tenz with 8, and DemurePrincess with 5. Amazing effort!

Equally deserving of recognition are the Rookies that turned up each week and still managed to be a leading presence in these threads. These Rookies finished in the ‘Top 10’ of the weekly game threads; Gralin & King Tenz with 12, Ocha905 & DemurePrincess with 9, Irish BlueBagger with 5, and cats_09 with 3.

Ok now onto the most important aspect of the judging for the Rising Star; on-field performance.

In the past we've had Qooty Stats, we've had the A.R.S.E ... we've had GWS Goose doing whatever he did.

This season, I have used a formulae that ensured the future integrity and legitimisation of the award under our next SFA Admin (and SCAARFACE).

That said, onto the qooty stats!

As you can see, there are some absolute jets in the S36 cohort! Some special mentions for outstanding games are needed:​

• Round 3: big_icky (30 disposals, 3 goals – 109 DT)
• Round 6: iva_bigun (6 kicks, 6 goals – 59 DT)
• Round 8: cats_09 (14 HO, 34 disposals, 6 tackles, 1 goal – 122 DT)
• Round 10: JoseMourinho (7 kicks, 5 goals – 55 DT)
• Round 13: nobbyiscool (28 disposals, 1 goal – 102 DT)
