Founding Story

Initially recruiting exclusively Fitzroy supporters, the Roys FFC were formed on the eve of season 03. The Roys or the ‘Gorillas’ debuted wearing the same colours that they still wear to this day, maroon and blue. The Roys took a short break from the league in season 09 but made a rare return to the competition in season 11. Across their time in the league, the Roys have called four venues home. Brunswick Street Oval (S03-S11), Junction Oval (S11), Brunswick Junction Oval (S14-Now), and Renown Park where they play selected games.

At the end of season 15, the Gold City Royals were announced as the Sweet Football Association’s tenth team under inaugural captain, Easty. The Royals beat out the ‘OFG Warriors’ and joined the reviving team of the ‘Alberton Swamprats’. The Royals have and still do call The Golden Throne their home ground.

Not actually from the Sweet FA, but from what was a rival league back nearly 20 years ago. The Sweet FA would have been in about Season 7 or 8 at this point. These guys were from a board that was actually censored here at the time. So i won't mention them, but suffice to say that they are now represented in a neighbouring country within a riding called "Broadsaus".
