Season already over for 3 clubs

i dont think the op should be criticised because of the team he/she supports.

i think the op should be criticised for thinking that the season was over for those teams after only 1 round.

the idiot wrote that last wed 23rd bet he would like to re-visit his comments

Bet his opinion hasn't changed one iota.

You were playing at home and barely got over a North team decimated by injury (and who clearly struggled with the Perth heat) in an error riddled game that looked every bit like a bottom 4 clash. Plus you lost your best player for half the season.

I didn't see anything that suggested a team with a shot at the finals and I bet Lethal didn't either.

Big call this thread, saying the teams who finished 13th, 15th and 16th will struggle

.

Yer, but whats funny is how he says, very wisely and objectively, 13th 15th 16th will struggle, but conspicuously absent is 14th ... no 14th wont struggle! no no no... Why... oh thats right, because they WON in round 1! Thats it. Thats the evidence!.

How anyone can rule anyone's season out at round 1 is ludicrous.. but the funny part is how you can conveniently exclude your own club when passing judgement on your fellow cellar-dwellers: thats what is hillariious.

They came in struggling with injury but they didn't have to spend half the game with two rotations. You've already identified the heat was a factor so you may as well apply that one equally.

It won't mean much coming from me but there'd be a few non-partisan viewers who would say that holding on for a win after losing our best player for half the game, and playing with half an interchange bench in distressing heat means that our season probably holds still at least a modicum of hope.

Wow, the Bombrays are getting mighty cocky mighty early.

Yeah you look good now (Round 1), but if I recall correctly, didn't you smash North by 55 points in Round 1 2008 in Knights' first game as coach?

Weren't North Top 4 the year before?

While I hope the Bombers keep Carlton out of the 8, don't count your chickens guys. It could be mighty embarrassing for you, and the backlash threads would no doubt come thick and fast.

Season is a marathon, not a sprint. Plenty of time for all kinds of crazy unpredictable things to happen.

Totally agree with that. It's a little premature to call a season over after only one game of the twenty two they'll play over the course of the season. Football's a strange beast, and almost anything can happen on any given week.

Well said. I like to think that at this stage it's still mathematically possible. :D

OP can get stuffed.

'Season-over' for 3 clubs after only Rnd1? Another Nostra-damned-us.

Sure, you don't have to be an Einstein to see the Lions will struggle without JB but to write-off anyone after just one round of footy is premature speculation.

What has this thread got to do with Essendon?

We know our story mate. This thread is embarrassing to BigFooty.

Seriously, have you BEEN on BigFooty lately?

A lot of Bombers supporters getting kinda big for the britches at the moment. You weren't in the "Oh NOES, Collingwood only got 35K to the Port game!" thread?

OP (an Essendon supporter) failed to mention the measly 42K you got to the Dogs game. He also forgot to mention that was actually one of the biggest crowds we've HAD against Port in Melbourne.

But you know, why should that stop you guys getting ahead of yourselves over a repeat of what happened in Matthew Knights first game.

Calm down son. I can't help if some are getting carried away with it. We're not all the same. We're just sick and tired being labelled shit and all that. But thats my point, the classic BF mentality, paint us all with the same brush. It happens to all clubs and it stinks. And not once in the OP did i see Essendon mentioned. But ofcourse, he barracks for Essendon so he is the bad guy....

I don't agree with this thread, but the posts in here are downright embarrassing.

Check my post history. I'm actually part ON the Essendon bandwagon. I think you guys are a certainty for the 8 personally, but then I take the NAB Cup more seriously than most. I don't care that Calrton ruined it for everyone else, they haven't ruined it for me. Carlton are the exception, not the rule.

But some of the shit being seen is a bit much. My post also said a LOT of Essendon supporters, not ALL Essendon supporters.

But again, when you look at it in the cold light of day, all Essendon did is the EXACT same thing they did in 08 in Matthew Knights first game as coach. Where's Matthew now?

I'm not saying that will happen to Hird, but some perspective would be nice.

The thing is, much has changed since that first game from Knights. Players, coaching staff, playing style etc have changed. Believe me, i hope its just a coincidence. Anyway its not about Essendon.

I think West Coast and Richmond's season is still alive. Its rd 1 ffs. Brisbane is the only club atm thats in trouble. Having said that, footy is a week to week proposition. The landscape changes constantly.

hahahahahahahahahahaha lol, of course an essendon supporter started this shit. there are a lot more rounds to go mate before putting this stupid thread up. that was probably the closest round one for a long time. if richmond actually played 4 quaters of football just like the 3rd, i tell you what, it would of been a good win for the tigers. give it 6 rounds at least before this thread should be made. IMO close it

Could we have a forum whereby you are only allowed to make long term judgement calls based on at least 4 rounds of football, or am I just a girl who dreams too big?

Or we could just name this board BigGoldfish and be done with it.

Brisbane, West Coast and Richmond are unlikely to make the finals. They were unlikely to make the finals last week. But they are all still capable of a much improved performance on their 2010 finish, especially West Coast.

Seriously, have you?

All I've noticed lately is arrogant Collingwood supporters trolling other clubs. One flag in three decades and you're the greatest club ever.

Get a grip.

Brisbane in for a long season for sure, multiplied by the loss of Brown.

West Coast will win a few in Perth but can't see them being anywhere but bottom 4.

Tigers will improve I think. Still feel they will win more this year than last year.

The clubs mentioned were never going to figure in finals this year anyway, hardly a big call for the OP to make.
