Why did it only start 8 years ago
Why does it only happen in the Cup and nowhere else?
Why doesn't it happen anywhere else on earth?
Why does nowhere else have these rules?

You would have to be a dead set mug not to see what the new measures actually are - protectionism in the form of completely unnecessary regulation
more and more inbreeding

There horses mate not fruit flies

A bit of light reading to expand your mind

The Prix Moulin is normally one of the world's great miles races but looks laughably week this year with the only real interest whether budding superstar BAAEED can keep his undefeated run going and win his first group 1

Gai- Fiorente?
Can't think any others

Denham Might & Power the only other - and Fiorente was basically trained by Lloyd that spring anyway.

SYDNEY.....HORSES.....DO....NOT....WIN

Werribee for mine. Burn it. Any reports that validate it have the same premise as a Vlandys commissioned report on the Everest bring Australia’s best race. Listen to the stakeholders.

Does it say the constitution of the thoroughbred can change genetically in 8 years?
And did it specifically change for horses running only in Aus, only in Nov, only at Flemington and only over 3200m?

Agree with Jug and others the sample size is too small to make the change they have and the most likely answer is a statistical outlier / variance. If there is anything tangible it could be Werribee, I don't recall issues when they quarantined at sandown.

Whilst I'm not saying there is an issue, it's difficult to conclude that there isn't an issue.

If there is an issue, the most logical explanation is Werribee.

Even though Werribee has been given the tick of approval they probably won't admit fault if that was the cause of concern. Therefore they've designed a process whereby only the soundest of horses will go through that facility and won't break down.

It's very easy to conclude their is not an issue if you think about sample size.

just do the test and there is no problems. Why are the trainers in the UK so reluctant? its worth $8m and gives a good overview of the horse. Its simple really

Happy to agree with the best trainers in the world that the tests are far too invasive and are not required (which it is obvious they aren't).

You can't ignore the data that you do have, especially given its virtually impossible to get a meaningful sample size.

As dogs jugs myself etc have mentioned - why does it only appear to be an issue with one particular race - it can't be a constitutional issue requiring scanning if it is only happening in that one race.

Let's face it - if they were breaking down in the Caulfield Cup RV wouldn't give a shit because no one in the general public would care and they could just wait out the variance that this is highly likely to be.

Let's face it - if they were breaking down in the Caulfield Cup RV wouldn't give a sh*t because no one in the general public would care and they could just wait out the variance that this is highly likely to be.
ridiculous statement

You're right on if it were CC. Unfortunately all the animal protestors etc think its the only horse race that happens each year
