Pointless dominating a season if you can't win the last game that counts.
It was actually a pretty close year at the top end. We went 1-1 with murrumbeena and 2-2 with Highett. Keysie were good also but had injury concerns through the whole year.

We went in to the GF warm favourites but Highett did beat us a few weeks before finals began as well so it didn’t just come from nowhere.

I expect this season to be pretty tight as well. Keysie look to be stronger, murrumbeena will be very good again, Hampton talking up there new recruits so they should be better and springy could be anything. Haven’t heard much on the others so far.

It’s a good division. We are very happy to be in it and out of the lower divs with the problems they are dealing with.

Heatherton beat Crib Point by about 6 goals in a praccy match Saturday. Looked to have improved a lot from last year with some tidy looking recruits.
Any other practice game results news out there?

Keysie beat Officer by 3 goals, were 7 goals up & then took off a lot of their better players.
Had a lot of senior players out too including Bryan, Carnelley & Pal.
Looked highly impressive.

It reads as though Keysy have picked up quite a few - are any of the recruits noteworthy?
No big name recruits but have filled some key requirements.
Greatest improvement will come from existing players if they get any sort of injury luck unlike last year.

Beena lost to St Kilda City by 35 - 40. They had some outs but we had outs in Semmel, Bruno, LJ, Ambrose, Lello, Brazil x 1, Stewart, Walder so a lot of quality to come in this week.

Round 1 vs Keysey should be a cracker

Springy v Caulfield by 24points
Springy to make statement on their return to Div2. The big ground to provide an advantage for the home side.

Keysie v Murrumbeena by 6 points
A fit Keysie with a few handy additions to get an early win against a Fellow contender for the flag. Match of the round this one.

Chelsea heights v Heatherton 30points
Heatherton to be much more competitive in the division then some think. Chelsea too much too end class in the end though.

East Brighton v Skye by 28 points
Lot to like about East Brighton last year.
Haven’t heard much about either club in terms of recruits so going on last years form

Doveton v Hampton by 30 points
Few missing from the Eagles last praccy so if they don’t come back this could easily be an upset with Hamptons new recruits. Should be too good at home though. Strong midfield on that big ground

How did the bloke that got reported get off? Intial offer was 2 weeks, came away with nothing. Not much in it?
No initial offer was made which was odd.

Very minor incident. The springy bloke thought the same, which helped. Video showed it to be high contact. A free kick was paid which resulted in a goal. That should have been enough. He was given a yellow card as well.

Was found guilty of careless high contact, not deliberate striking.

Yes I may be biased but I think they got it right.

On a side note, the new tribunal set up is well organised. Clear video on a very large screen that slows the vision right down. You would want to be confident that the video supports you if you were to choose to fight a report.

The Springy bloke must have had a change of heart considering he acted like he got shot when i gave him a love tap the week prior. Ah well, end of the day we are there to play footy right......the new setup is good for the game and will stamp out dog acts that used to occur from time to time.

Also how can a set penalty not be made? It's usually, "we offer you a 2 week set penalty" or "no set penalty offered, this is being referred straight to the tribunal". So unsure how he can be cited but then not have one or the either occur?

Keep your hands to yourself and you won’t get in trouble!

It was referred straight to tribunal. No idea why. They knew we wanted it thrown out. Maybe they were saving us the $150 to appeal! Not likely.
It’s obviously not mandatory to offer the set penalty.

Why bother citing him in the first place then? Strange.
