They have certainly lost a lot of players if you look at the clearance section http://websites.sportstg.com/club_info.cgi?c=1-9447-137844-0-0&a=CLEAR
Whilst they have also picked up a few players, you have to question the impact of losing so many players. It will be interesting to see if they manage to play out the season.

Of all the players on that list wanting out.. 8 are walk up ones players plus the coach.

Only one player is stepping up to a higher level.. 4 are moving to clubs in the same comp. ( I'm guessing they will be getting less coin but are sick of getting pumped every week ) and the rest moving to lower standard comps.

Hp will cop a lot of hammerings this year but they will survive.. some sort of re structure of the leagues is supposed to be on the cards with divisions or a move to Southern is an option for next year.

Three Rounds gone and their average losing margin has been 159 points. Going to be a long season.

Tips for this weekend:

Hampton vs CHELSEA HEIGHTS
SKYE vs Highett
EAST BRIGHTON vs Heatherton
CAULFIELD vs Mt. Waverley
KEYSBOROUGH vs Murrumbeena
SPRINGVALE DISTRICTS vs The Bye

Some pretty close match ups this round with Springvale Districts my best bet for the weekend.

Almost same picks as me...

Hampton vs Chelsea Heights
Skye vs Highett
East Brighton vs Heatherton
Caulfield vs Mount Waverley
Keysborough vs Murrumbeena

how has there been no comments on here regarding the weekend's results? very strange round compared to the first few weeks. skye losing to highett, mount beating Caulfield and CH smashing the previously undefeated hammers. obviously going to be a very close year and all teams will need to be on their game every week.....

Can't speak for all other teams, but our games against Hampton and East Brighton could've gone our way if we were switched on and disciplined for all 4 qtrs of each game.
Hampton - a 5 goal to 0 1st qtr sealed our fate for that game, we outscored them from the 2nd qtr onwards, but not enough obviously.
East Brighton - we were up half way through the 4th qtr.. but due to giving a lot of 50m penalties away through undisciplined acts and brain fades, majority of those resulted in goals for East Brighton.
Caulfield - it was only 1 pt, we got the jump on them early, they eventually clawed their way back but we were always slightly ahead for most of the day.
So we feel we have a playing list that will be very competitive in this comp as long as we do everything as planned.

I'll have a go at some tips for the weekend. Going by previous rounds there are bound to be some upsets though.

East Brighton vs CHELSEA HEIGHTS- Heights to win. Going along nicely . Be interesting when their neighbours 'the Seagulls' join next season. East Brighton improving week by week and playing a decent brand of fast flowing football. A lot to like about the way they go about things.

Mt. Waverley vs HIGHETT- If Highett get out of the blocks okay I'll think they will win. Got some decent players but a bit inconsistent. Mt. Waverley will be more than competitive though and it wouldn't surprise me if they got up.

CAULFIELD vs (pre Will Minson?) Heatherton- Caulfield haven't quite hit their straps yet but should get the points at home if they're switched on and kick straight. Sadly lack talls Caulfield but generally bring the effort. Heatherton can drift in and out of games.

Hampton vs MURRUMBEENA- Tough one to call as I haven't seen much of either side. I think Murrumbeena has enough quality players to get over the line.

Springvale Districts vs KEYSBOROUGH Keysborough to win this one. Got a decent mix of quality big blokes and a few speedy and hard at it small blokes. should be a competitive game though.

Skye to have the bye covered.

Bit sad the D2 thread has died due to lack of interest. :(

Nonetheless, I will have a go at some tips for round 8 to keep it ticking over:

Heatherton vs CHELSEA HEIGHTS (Seem to be a bit too good at the moment and have strengthened their list further in the last couple of weeks)
CAULFIELD vs Highett (Caulfield haven't quite hit their straps yet, but should get home in a close one)
EAST BRIGHTON vs Murrumbeena (If East Brighton use their expansive paddock to their advantage, they should just get home)
SKYE vs Keysborough (A bit of a toss up this one for me. Keysborough have also added to their list, but I'll go for the home side , just)
HAMPTON vs Springvale Districts (I like the home side on their small ground by about 5 goals)

MT. WAVERLEY vs The Bye (Mt. Waverley in a canter)

Agree with your tips there 'The Demon'.
Especially our one.. if we don't win this weekend, our season is over.

But in all seriousness, Skye v Keysborough will be an interesting one.
We haven't Keysie yet, but they seem to be travelling well and Skye were pretty good when we played them.

I'm confident with your boys. However, 'The Bye' should never be underestimated!

I will be following the scores of Skye vs Keysborough with great interest, as at the moment I am rating Chelsea Heights as No. 1 (Captain Obvious) and Keysborough as No.2. A solid Skye win changes things.

Watched Bears V Vampires last week and rest assured, both sides should not play finals. The standard was putrid. Where did the big power forward that played for Vamps last season go ? Forget his name, but at least it might have straightened them up if was in the square.

We've got both tomorrow and next sat.
Both cracking games last time we played.
- Game against EB could've been very different if we didn't give away all those 50's in the last qtr (something our playing group will remedy).
- Only defeated Caulfield by 1 pt in a very tight game.

But with our 3 clubs still in finals contention, will be tough games for all.

Checked out the second half of Skye vs. Murrumbeena (4 v 5). Was a pretty lacklustre affair, especially for a 4th placed side on their own deck.

Third qtr was one of the poorest qtrs I have seen from two likely Div 2 finalists. Skye were way too loose and let Murrumbeena run riot through the midfield. Tackling pressure was very weak. Skye's discipline was pretty poor, too - two of Murrumbeena's goals were absolute gifts from 50m penalties. Murrumbeena weren't that great, either. They should have kicked 7 or 8 goals (they kicked 3), but had an incredible number of turnovers from unforced errors. They would want to improve before they play East Brighton, or the finals.

Last qtr was pretty much a dead rubber.

Other worry for Murrumbeena was seeing Mitch Walder off the field in the last qtr, getting his knee heavily taped.
