Again.... This is Fremantle Dockers we are talking about.Mate they were top 3 a month ago. Freo would make finals next year just with the natural improvement of the young list, let alone adding Bolton and Baker.
If they add Bolton and Baker they'll be top 4 comfortably.
Maybe not, but you are closer with him than without, and season 2024 showed how close the comp is.Again.... This is Fremantle Dockers we are talking about.
Sure Bolton is a quality player. But he isn't going to make Freo go from 10th to a flag in 2025
Yeah but Tom Lynch took the Tigers from a prelim to a flag so this is exactly the same.Again.... This is Fremantle Dockers we are talking about.
Sure Bolton is a quality player. But he isn't going to make Freo go from 10th to a flag in 2025
TBF, you should've made finals this year.Again.... This is Fremantle Dockers we are talking about.
Sure Bolton is a quality player. But he isn't going to make Freo go from 10th to a flag in 2025
Let me know when you get to 37 years Do you remember how many experts said we shouldn't be chasing Dion Prestia in 2016 because we were miles off contending?Again.... This is Fremantle Dockers we are talking about.
Sure Bolton is a quality player. But he isn't going to make Freo go from 10th to a flag in 2025
Has nothing to do with Dodoro, you think your club or any other club would not do the same in this situation for contracted players?Bolton worth one first plus a later pick IMO. Reckon Richmond posters are doing a Dodoro, way over rating their player/s. Bolton is a nice to have, but looks to play a bit conditionally/go missing.
Looking at Freo's draft hand, didn't Freo load up on firsts to have a crack at Chad Warner? Pies having gifted them a nice one, Port still up in the air.
If all that draft capital is burned this year without scoring Warner, if he's amenable to coming home next year, how does Freo get it done with hardly any useful picks? I figured if Warner isn't coming this year, then Freo might trade into next years first round so they could get it done.
Now imagine if the dockers offered pick 9, 17 and a 2025 1st rounder for Bolton and Freo finishes on the bottom 6 next season? The same could be said for Jackson but Freo gave up Pick 13 + a future 1st & future 2nd round pick just 2 years ago and he is a spud.
My team has completed 30 full seasons from 1995-2024. Dockers made finals only 8 times out of 30 and only made back to back finals only once in a 30 year stretch.Let me know when you get to 37 years Do you remember how many experts said we shouldn't be chasing Dion Prestia in 2016 because we were miles off contending?
If Treacy hadn't have got injured a few weeks ago you'd be playing in a qualifying final this weekend.
It's a funny game. The worst thing you can do is nothing.
That'd be better than our record over that period. My team has completed 30 full seasons from 1995-2024. Dockers made finals only 8 times out of 30 and only made back to back finals only once in a 30 year stretch.
I don't expect finals but at least a couple of sustained finals periods over a 30 year period isn't asking a lot.
My confidence is still dented after the Jesse Hogan trade and Luke Jackson trade.
So trading picks 9, 17 and 2025 1st rounder for Bolton is a bit steep
Again.... This is Fremantle Dockers we are talking about.

Did you watch no one crumb in the fwd line all year and the ball just bounce back out?
Did you watch no X factor or finishing power i50 all year?
Shots at goal from our fwds this year.
Treacy 45.15
Amiss 36.28
Freddie 23.17
Jacko 21.16
Sturt 21.7
Banfield 20.13
Walters 17.13
Switta 12.10
Bolton had 34.26 in the 18th team.
20 more shots than Freddie
38 more than switta
Again.... This is Fremantle Dockers we are talking about.
Sure Bolton is a quality player. But he isn't going to make Freo go from 10th to a flag in 2025
If I’m trying to sell a player to a team I wouldn’t run with the fact that they would have given us 2 more points a game.Let’s see
Your best small forward in 2024 Michael Frederick kicked 23 goals in 20 games, averaging 1.15 per game.
In 2024 Bolton kicked 34 goals in 22 games, averaging 1.55 per game.
Now I’m not going to try and adjust numbers for the fact we sucked, had low i50s and Bolton played more midfield time than he might at Fremantle.
Let’s simply multiply the average goal difference by 6 and add those points (2.4) to Fremantle team score this year. Funnily enough Freo drew a game and lost two by a point. They also lost one by 3 points but as we are making no adjustments we won’t include that game.
So instead of finishing on 12 wins and a draw, Freo now finish on 15 wins and with their percentage finish 4th. Now that isn’t a flag but a much better chance of a flag.
In addition if Freo did make top 4 they would have likely got Darcy, Treacy and Pearce back from injury in time for the qualifying final, semi-final and/or prelim.
Something tells me this pessimistic assessment of Boltons influence on your team suggests they would have gone close to a flag this year. Because remember Bolton wouldn’t replace Frederick, he’d replace someone like Switkowski or O’Meara. He also has kicked more goals in a good team, and in reality this year switched off for half the season except his cameo for his new team.
2 extra points per game gets you the win against Pies and Essendon and you'd be playing finals this week. Small margins. If I’m trying to sell a player to a team I wouldn’t run with the fact that they would have given us 2 more points a game.
Too small a margin that bringing in an extra player does nothing. A margin that small can be overcome by one straighter kick a game. Don’t need two firsts for that. You could bring in just about any player and argue that they make the team two points better.2 extra points per game gets you the win against Pies and Essendon and you'd be playing finals this week. Small margins.
That's a far too simplistic way to look at it. Bolton played in a team that won 2 games this year. He had over 100 shots at goal in his AA year. No one on your list can do that.Too small a margin that bringing in an extra player does nothing. A margin that small can be overcome by one straighter kick a game. Don’t need two firsts for that. Don’t get me wrong i agree with you and I think Bolton instantly makes us a better team next year and is close to the perfect player we could get to plug the hole in our forward line (kozzie aside), but 2 points a game isn’t gonna convince anyone.
Then run with that argument, not "he can add an extra 2 points a game"That's a far too simplistic way to look at it. Bolton played in a team that won 2 games this year. He had over 100 shots at goal in his AA year. No one on your list can do that.
If only shots on goals, equaled goals scored then he would be an A grader.
I didn't, you did...Then run with that argument, not "he can add an extra 2 points a game"
Tigers were always gonna win that 2019 grand final regardless if Lynch or even Dustin Martin played or notYeah but Tom Lynch took the Tigers from a prelim to a flag so this is exactly the same.
Wouldn't have made it past Geelong in Prelim to end up in the Grand Final without those two thoughTigers were always gonna win that 2019 grand final regardless if Lynch or even Dustin Martin played or not
