I'm not here to take a pot at the bloke, but he hasn't lived up to what we've expected from him over the last month and a bit.

Surely he is carrying some kind of injury, just doesn't seem to be making enough contests and struggling for a substantial amount of TOG, especially in the middle.

This isn't alarm bells at all, just a thread to evoke some discussion. Has anyone heard anything?

That's just it, it's a bit of a form slump over the last 4-5 weeks.

Other than that, he has lived up to expectations IMO. Not sure he's quite fully fit atm or he might be carrying something, but he'll be back to his normal self sooner rather than later. Did well to get himself into the game toward the end today.

Thats interesting

It pays to actually get to a game and watch what he does...

Today's game and last 3 games were better then his Adelaide game rd 1 but most people just look at the cheap 3 goals he got and read the BS 5 million stats comps which mean sweet FA.

Absolute JET

I have another bottle to get through bring a few with you, with that level of creativity and stupidity the job is yours.... I need more people like you around me:)

You're an f-wit mate. :thumbsu:

As soon as we bring up criticism you jump on our back. If you honestly think that he's 100% you're kidding yourself. I'm not slamming the guy, I'm just making the observation that he doesn't look fully fit and his form has been below what we usually see from him.

I was at the game today mate, so it does pay to watch what he does;)

During some of those games, he was a permanent forward. Since then he has been out of form. Now that we actually have some small forwards, he can go back to the midfield, get into some form, and hopefully, dominate.

was getting his legs worked over by the medics at every change... think he is struggling with his fitness atm... definitely a weapon when fit. :thumbsu:

Keep it clean guys, I don't want to have to call the

We've really had nothing out of him in a month of footy.

This really isn't good enough. Something has to change. Last week I suggested dropping him for Rioli's inclusion but I've reconsidered.

We have two options:
1. Rest him til his fit
2. Play him somewhere that he has more impact. HBF (could be great for beating a forward press) or midfield for clearances.

To keep him up forward whilst unfit with him not influencing games at all is a waste of a spot in the best 22 and wasting what the guy can bring to the table.

I've noticed he's getting caught a lot and is struggling to break free from the contest/packs. Which he did on numerous occasions in both the Richmond and Melbourne games. Is it fitness an injury or just down on form? He's just not imposing himself on the game.
Some flashes of brilliance later in the game today. Let's see what he does in Sydney.

This :thumbsu:
Unfit he still has more potential than the possible replacements and requires a decent opposition match up. So even at less than 100% he's better for the structure.

I agree. My SA mates say some compare him to Wanganeen But he is way off that at the moment. You dont drop a gun but u put a fire under him and our kids are doing that. I have faith in the Burger

I was watching one of the vids the club put up on youtube, and they had one with Ellis getting some physio, and he made a comment to Burgers about how Xav would have to get himself a sore knee so he wouldn't have to train either. So from that, the management of Burger's knee is curtailing his training, which would be hurting his fitness. Possibly if it has flared up he's struggling in games as well.

If this is the case, I'm very happy with him taking a less demanding role and being managed to ensure he's as ready as possible for finals.
We should be able to make top 4 without him in our best every week, but we'll need him at his best to nab the flag.
