Depending on your definition of transitioning, between 3% and 0.15% of people who transition regret transitioning.

I acknowledge that this still leaves a subset of the population that regrets their transition, but 3% of what is already a small percentage of the population (39 from 10,000 individuals) is much lower than the binary you're proposing as equal.

That examples exist does not entail that those examples are representative of a wider population.

Thanks for the link, I'll have a read.

I'd prefer teachers didn't discuss gender ideology, sexual preferences and transgender issues with my kids.

Pretty obvious why...the way schools these days a getting more and more progressive I'd prefer we as parents handled such a sensitive topic. Obviously there will be parents who will approach it differently but imo most parents will still handle it in a fairly "conservative" way.

Gender and sexuality are human biology. Science. It’s like saying “I’d prefer teachers not discuss evolution with my kids”.

And you then admit you want more conservative teachings given to children. Now tell me how many average parents will thoroughly research biology and sexuality textbooks, make sure the content they’ve learned is correct (ie be assessed on it) and then instruct children in a correct manner? Answer, very few.

There’s people who are specifically trained for that, they’re called teachers. In now way shape or form will the average parent educate a child better than a trained and monitored teacher.

I'm not the terms science and gender can be used in the same sentence any more. There is nothing scientific about the genders people identify as these days. It's purely based off emotion and how an individual feels

Not a fan. I could get behind a age limit on entering a hooters.

What are your thoughts on the video? All ok? Happy to take your kids to that kind of event?

Why should hooters have an age limit?
Kids see woman in shorts and singlets everyday at the shop..

Should the beach now have an age limit?

I think the answer being 'It's complicated' doesn't mean it's not scientific.

You want certainty, I'm sure Tony Robbins is available.

Shit have you seen that Munecat video on Tony Robbins? Brutal.

How would one scientifically quantify the value of someone of libragender identity which is someone who is mostly agender but partly feels like another gender?
By reminding you that there's a scientific basis for the hypothesis that gender is social in nature (as it has more to do with how society treats you than it does your biology) and that there's a reasonable amount of psychological research that implies the healthiest way to treat someone suffering gender dysphoria is to treat them as their chosen gender.

Now, leave me be. I'm trying to watch the cricket.

Here’s a scientific journal article regarding gender and neurobiology:

Have a read of it and it’s over 90 references.

The “feels” are more your opinions on the topic.

Referring to a comment that stated gender is a science and comes under human biology

I’ll paste the Wikipedia article on gender.

Whilst Wikipedia is not an authoritative source, they reference over 200 journal articles, many peer reviewed, regarding scientific studies on gender.

There is plenty of science in many disciplines regarding sex and gender. It is not just “feels” from millennials.

I suggest you start reading about it, it’s not something to make fun of, there’s a lot of serious discussion that can be had in this topic.

I’ve got a great idea to test a Pride round.

Have one round where every game is scheduled to be the biggest crowd drawing games of the year (Coll/Carl/Ess/Rich, the Derby, the Showdown).

Then make that round Pride round. Full on Mardi Gras before every game. Announce it widely that each game will be filled with glitter and rainbows and drag queens and dykes on bikes…..

Simply measure how many people turn up to each game. If crowds are significantly down then that’s a good sign that Pride is disliked by AFL crowds. But I’m 99% sure attendances for those games will be high as usual.

After Manly’s Pride jumper controversy their crowds in following matches were higher than previous rounds even though they finished in the bottom half of the table. Being pro Pride didn’t hurt their support

They should give you Gil’s job

Anyone who says politics should stay out of sports immediately invalidates any argument moving forward. Sport has ALWAYS been political. And at the end of the day, treating queer people like proper human beings isn't political, it's called being a ****ing decent person you bigot.

If we also have a Christian round then sure
Awful lot of queer Christians out there who might feel a bit more appreciated with a Pride round.

There have been a lot of moments throughout history where sport and politics meet, but this current focus on inclusion/representation/whatever is a relatively new phenomenon.

Are you saying that the current absence of a pride round = failing to treat queer people like proper human beings?

Statistics tell us there definitely should be multiple same sex attracted AFL players. Have a think about why they aren’t coming out?

Pride may be a small step but it puts us on the right path to a future where an AFL player walks down the Brownlow red carpet with his husband or boyfriend and no one bats an eyelid.
