Fast forward 12 months, and assume Danger has decided to leave:

What happens?

He says "I've got a 1.2m/5 year deal from Geelong". Adelaide decide to match it. He doesn't sign it, insisting a move to Geelong.

Does everyone believe that other clubs (Collingwood, Hawthorn, Melbourne) would just pass over him in the PSD? IF these clubs are interested now, they'll be interested in 12 months time.

I don't think he'll move away for nothing. Someone will force Geelong's hand.

Surprised no one has mentioned Paul Connors on trade radio. Dangers manager. Said Danger is very happy at crows and is almost definitely not leaving this year.
Franklin was happy at hawthorn, Ablett was happy at Geelong. if he is deadly serious about staying he must sign the day the new coach is announced.

Everyone seems to be black and white on the issue but reality is, he might not know himself.

It's entirely reasonable that he may want to see how the club performs this season and whether he thinks a flag is a realistic possibility in the near-term for the club.

Come halfway through the season, if we're sitting top 4, i'm sure there's a good chance he'll sign before season's end. If we're underperforming like this season, there's every chance he will consider his options.

Not much different to how it works in the real world. I'm sure many here have weighed their options with potential employers at various times in their career. The difference here is Patty gets a max of maybe 12 years to fulfil his footy aspirations, whereas most of us get 40 years. Patty's career is already halfway over, so i'd be damn careful about my decision-making too if i was him!

I believe that this will be only part of his decision making process. To me the biggest thing to influence Danger will be the coach. If we get the right man then I reckon Danger will stay. Admittedly the right man would also be getting us up the ladder.

I don't think he'd sign right away, even if we got Clarko.

Like we both agreed, results will be the key.

Clarko and us 9th would not surpass Bassett and us 4th (just being theoretical) but nobody can know the outcome of this until the season has been underway for a while, which is why i think he'll be waiting.

We both agree on this. I would say though that even the Roo stated that first the club must fix up its environment which I guess is alluding to getting the Admin fixed and the right coaching panel. admin

Connors made a slip up much in the same way Pickering dropped Sydneys name when he was talking about Buddy re-signing with the Hawks.
Connors said "Paddy is really happy at Collingwood, I mean Adelaide"
Hmm..

Terry Wallace saying that he doesn't see where all this Dangerfield madness has come from..
Also that Mark Ricciuto makes one statement that means nothing and the whole world has gone mad..

Edit: Then a minute later he said someone from the club shouldn't have said something like that..

That's what should happen, but it's not what tends to actually happen. See Tippett, Kurt

Josh Mahoney has just said that Picks 2 and 3 would be offered for Dangerfield.
Then we wait 2 years before we see them on the field. Prefer a half decent player to go with a really low pick.

Danger aint going anywhere next season, unless it means we score a Cameron +

EDIT...low in number e.g. 1,2,3
