Sick of defending the MFC

Please dont compare hacks like Butcher and Schulz to guns Mitch Clark and Liam Jurrah.

Wow...just...no. Schulz and Butcher are two of the reasons why Port have been a heck of a lot more competitive this year than last...and miles ahead of your lot.

I'll give you Clark (for this season at least anyway), but if you think Jurrah is a gun but the Port duo aren't rather than vice-versa, then really, it's not surprising that Melbourne are forever mired in mediocrity if that is the prevailing mindset.

Said it before, will say it again. At the start of the great on and off field rebuild, they paid way too much attention to the off field and not enough to the onfield.

You really think you're going to pass on Viney if he's nominated by either GWS or GC?

Nobody is buying Schwabs bluff.
No, the point was with two huge prospects in Whitfield and Grundy, you'd be silly to bid on probably a top 10-15 player with that sort of risk.

We'll probably end up with Viney regardless, but still.

Doesn't seem all that long ago the so called experts were talking Melbourne up as the next on field super power. They apparently had a young list that was the envy of the comp. WTF has happened.
Lots of high draft picks, apparently = shoe-in for finals, premierships etc.

Beats me how they thought this was possible with Dean Bailey as coach. I expect Neeld to make a bigger dent, but it'll take longer than they expected.

Regardless, I agree with...

Irrelevant, just a nothing club.

Even if you take Viney at 3 (I think you should deal with GWS for a mini draft pick with pick 4 with a guarantee they won't bid on Viney) Grundy or Toumpas will still be available (most likely Grundy, GWS will take Whitfeld and GC don't need another ruck). I also think you're underselling Viney at 10 - 15.

Some would say that the hack is Jurrah.
Stay classy FP. Read the article in the Herald Sun today to try get a real grasp on the LJ Yuendumu situation.

Jurrah has played 36 games and kicked 81 goals. I think he would be handy in the side atm.

Relax LBJ, it was in response to a post by the OP saying that Schulz and Butcher are hacks and Jurrah and Clark are guns. I doubt anyone reasonable would agree with an assertion like that.

Edit: I'm already well aware of the whole case and that the machete allegations are spurious at best. Lighten up.

I have had enough of defending something that doesnt deserve to be defended,

The Melbourne Football Club is a pitiful excuse for a sporting organisation.

Going nowhere at a million miles an hour, with absolutely no light in sight. Just a long road of darkness.

How is it possible that we could actually go out and find a WORSE coach than Dean Bailey? Well we have done the impossible by hiring Neeld. Thanks for nothing once again Gary Lyon.

The list is a disgrace, the game plan is a farce, and the whole club has no fabric or soul. no finals since 2006, and our record since then is worse than anything Fitzroy ever dished up.

Wasting top picks on rubbish players Watts, Trengove, Morton and Scully (who we were over- compensated for but will stuff those picksup anyway) has set us back another decade.

I will not defend this joke of a club any longer.

Sorry to agree but when you're right you're right
Melb is bland as bat shit, you need a big name coach to save the club from obscurity.

I want to say let's give the Neeld regime another pre season and see how they go next year. But I think I'm being a bit optimistic. The forward set up is non existent. Once we lost Clark that was it. There needs to be a bit if structure there and a small forward. The defence seems to hold up in contested situations. They turn the ball over far to easily and the game plan forcing the ball wide can't be executed properly as too many players butcher the ball. Seriously how may put on the fulls have there been. The midfield needs a bit more grunt.
As a whole the team doesn't seem to work hard enough. Let's see how another tough pre season get them going.

Ehh, take the two best forwards out of most teams (in our case the two best by a mile) and they will struggle to convert inside 50s. At least we are getting close in the possession counts.
the Crows have been motoring along nicely with out their two key forwards for a while now. West Coast have not had their key forwards for most of the year. I'm sorry but your theory doesn't hold much weight.

I dont hate Trengove at all.

How does being honest aout a players lack of performance mean I hate him?

He should have been dropped 10 weeks ago, he has literally not played 1 good game all season.
Because you have no idea.

He is leading every 1%er at the club you claim lacks passion.

He's had about 5 20+ disposal games.

He's lost form, but you expect too much.

Let him grow.

FWIW, I'm frustrated. However, I love my bloody football club and I will defend it to the hilt.

Both teams were ******* embarrassing last night. This thread is more embarrassing

Why because the bloke has had enough of his club putting in mediocre performances and getting belted each week?

He has every right to question what is going on at his footy club and to demand excellence. All Melbourne supporters should do the same.

Agree with that.

Clark and Schulz are level as FF talent.

Jurrah as a 40-50 goal a season player is better than Butcher, who is certainly not a spud.

Let's be honest, this season has been a shocker. The lack of fight at times has been embarrassing. But you need to give Neeld time to establish what he wants to do.

The side is far from perfect, but I think it has the foundations of a solid unit. Forward line wise, they have looked sound at times, ineffectual at other times. Defence is sound enough, midfield has room for improvement.

If they can trade well, draft well, they can build a side that can become what they want it to be. They don;t need to throw big $$$$ at guys like Cloke, they need to find guys like Laidlaw, Grigg, Mumford, Mcglynn, Kennedy around league, who aren't getting games, who can come in and fill a role.

Irrelevant, just a nothing club.

I'll never forget the exuberance of their supporters on BF after they beat GWS. Pathetic.
Mate, honestly wondering whether you watched the Swans in the early nineties. I was too young, but by all accounts you were shot on field, finished crowd wise (you'd know everyone in the stand by name) and had none of your own cash. Its a bit rich to deem another club a 'nothing'. Not defending us at the moment, but six down years should be familiar to a Sydney Swans supporter.

He's never had a positive thing to say on our board and is a consistently recurring troll.
