When I heard on SEN Thursday night that McInerney was officiating our game, some of the hope inside of me was extinguished.

There are plenty of precedents with people being sued over social media comments. You can't hide, the court has powers to find out your real identity.

Maybe read the thread before posting champ. Most Port supporters in this thread have acknowledged that Geelong were the better team and worthy winners. It's actually Hawthorn supporters that have really drilled into the umpires.

My point is that I don't think I'm going to be sued over pointing out that if something looks like shit, and smells like shit, it's very obviously shit.

And by the way, if people were getting sued over doing that left right and centre as you seem to imagine, I tend to think internet forums would look a little different to how they do.

well you'd have to prove the comments caused a loss of either reputation or earnings. You can't sue someone just for calling you names. Being called a cheat in the AFL generally seems to get you promoted!

That's pretty odd to allow someone in a neutral position to influence the game like that, let alone one who umpires in a final.

I had a feeling Geelong knew we were going to defend in the second half so they set out blazing in the 2nd quarter, having nothing to fear. If we kept pushing and scoring at the other end, the result may have been different. Always much easier sad than done though.
