How do we think heatherton will go? Seem to be very active signing blokes
Heatherton will be very competitive I’d be surprised if they didn’t finish top 4. Div 3 will be a fairly even grade. Remember Heatherton finished winless with a % in the low 20s last season so even with the drop in grade they still have a bit to make up. Would’ve only had 5-6 legitimate senior players last season so need to realistically recruit 12-15 good ones to be half a chance.

I’m hearing they’ve picked up at least 10 that have played much higher levels of footy, will know where they sit after round 1

both the sides coming up from div 4 are going to struggle. unfortunately it happens too often in this league, sides come up in a division and struggle to recruit or retain players to be competitive or take the next step.

Carrum PL , Hampton Park & Springy Districts say hello.

so do South Yarra, Cerberus, Southern Dragons, Mount Waverly and even Black Rock
HP dont really count because they moved leagues and where always looking to bounce back IMO

I don’t know enough about the Southern Dragons to comment on them, but regarding the others:

South Yarra have never had the ability to survive financially in the higher divs (I am not sure they even pay anyone) and are in a shocking area to recruit and attract players.

Cerberus have clear issues (depending on who’s on the base at the time to play).

Mount Waverley were known to have a group of players who just wanted to stay in bottom divisions. Pretty sad.

Black Rock - too early to say unless you heard they are struggling?

Hampton Park won division 3 and look pretty settled in division 2.

You would be correct though bout most div 4 clubs - I think most would struggle in div3. Think the dolphins will go OK though.

regardless of reasoning behind it over the last 10 years all sides that have won flags in the lowest division have struggled within 1-2 years to stay up

Moorabin won div 3 in 2012 then had 6 wins followed by 1 win
Doveton won div 3 2013- 6 wins followed by 2 wins
Black rock won div 3 2015 and then won 1 game in 2016
Mount 8 wins then fold
Doveton again- then 2 great years and major isues
Cerberus - 1 win
South Yarra- 2 wins then 1 win

Southern Dragons were before that and from memory were gone within 3 years also

Im hoping CPL, Frankston and Lyndhurst can all buck this trend but for me it shows a major issue with clubs that have success and dont do it the right way

Stop arguing good points.... top sides and bottom sides will be a very large gap i rekon.... some reap cricket scores coming up this year

Anyone done much recruiting over the last month or so?

Saw Ashwood have had some in and out, decent quality going both ways. Heatherton have picked up a lot, assume its similar to the Beena situation from last season where old mates have come back together to bounce back from a relegation? Narre have retained most of last year's team, got a new coach and a few good pickups. would suggest any team is a chance on any day, but you would have to think Clayton and Lyndhurst struggle?

Why Lyndhurst struggle?

Why Lyndhurst struggle?
Heatherton will potentially have the best list, but whether they can win the big games may be the issue. They have only won about 4-5 games over the last 4 years, so mentally might be a big one for them. Also as a club haven’t played finals for the best part of 15 years!
