Pretty much, so many people intentionally use all the time given to them like it's going to break the contest if they do anything early

Listening is fair enough because you need to dedicate a couple of hours to concentrate in the songs. But really, it takes 3.1 seconds to think of a song. Even if you've just gotten one if those pizza rolls from Baker's Delight that said "Mediterranean" but it was actually "supreme". Such is life.
