Is there a reason why Parnell is not playing in the SA ODI team?

He's been pretty impressive each time I've seen him, and the SA attack was incredibly ordinary last night.
Yer what's up with Steyn at the moment? Doesnt look to have the same usual menace in his bowling.

England appear to be favourites in this series. SA seems to be going through a flat spot in world cricket with some of their stalwarts on the way out and guys like AB, JP and Smith sadly out of touch.

SA had slipped down the rankings. They are an ordinary team now. And they batted first under a lot of cloud and with a lot of grass on the wicket and humidity about. They got what they asked for as Anderson loves those conditions.

Terrible performance from SA with the bat. England will win this by 5wkts. Defending 120 odd though and you don't leave yourself too many chances of victory.

I think the injury to Jaques Kallis has shown how much RSA will struggle without him in the future, he is the link man in the team, he as good an all rounder as you will see in the modern era, they will not be able to replace him down the track and I expect RSA to slide once he retires

But they had a huge victory without him in CT. I think they have a lot of players out of form and they don't pick enough specialist batsmen. When was the last time Kallis won them an ODI? I think they have multiple problems, not just his absence.

Sure, his absence is the sole reason for their demise and he prob is past his best, but he's a lot better than a lot of other players in that team getting a game, and he just gives them some much needed stability, their bowling is a massive concern, I just dont think they have an attack that can take wickets consistently, Parnell has some upside but is far from world class, Steyn can be good but it primarily suited to red-ball bowling and morne and albie morkel are very inconsistent

England have called up Durham's Mark Davies to the test squad as cover for Anderson and Sidebottom.

Struggles to get above 130kph, doesn't get much swing or bounce and is usually injured... yet he's probably the most successful seamer in county cricket. Interesting.

other than strauss and collingwood. there isnt much too right home about for englan in the batting line up. the bowling liune up will look ordinary without fredderick. anderson is by far their best bowler. broad will get carted i reckon. onions is only good when it's swinging and swann wont get much purchase when the pitchs will probably be more suited to quicks. south africa to win the test series 2-0. there will be at least 1 test ruined by rain and cape town will probably be a batter's parradise

SA is the only place in the world which continually offer bowler-friendly wickets. England look to be favourites here with SA having injuries and having a long break from test cricket.

Dale Steyn misses out with a left hamstring strain.

Friedel de Wet in for his debut; right arm fast-medium bowler.

Smith, Prince, Amla, Kallis, de Villiers, Duminy, Boucher, Morkel, Harris, Ntini, de Wet

Strauss, Cook, Trott, Pietersen, Collingwood, Bell, Prior, Broad, Swann, Anderson, Onions.

Ntini is playing his 100th test match.

SA 2-70 at the moment, we're in the 2nd over after lunch
