Heard from a resonably reliable source this morning that some of the first div clubs are not happy with Clayton as a first div finals venue, and that the previous CEO may have locked in Clayton some time ago, checked with an ex club person that is on a SFL football sub committee that they make those decisions not the CEO and the CEO then liaises with clubs.. Also discovered from the sub committee guy that a certain league Board official is upsetting clubs with his manner... SFL just name the venues and get on with it.

Surely the div 1 finals are not at Clayton? That would be a blight on SFL if that were the case. Clayton would have to be close to the worst ground in the SFL. Tiny, ordinary surface. Cars at a high risk of being broken into by local bandits. Surely the SFL are not that dumb

Some teams wouldn't want finals at Clayton due to the fact it would turn into a contested game of football.............
Hey Ct try the fact that the ground is too small, the surface is crap, there is no shelter, the changerooms are crap, there is bugger all parking, poor public toilet facilities, not enough room in the ground to hold a big crowd and the showcase finals series would result in stoppage after stoppage in a scrum of mediocrity and that the alternative at Springvale, whilst not perfect, is so far superior in surface, changerooms, parking, shelter, size and just about any other aspect you could name what can be the hidden agenda preventing the SFL using the best venue available?
Claytons ground is too small for div 1. If it rains don't bother going. No shelter and surface will turn game into ugly spectacle. As for mordi it's a cow paddock. The league has no idea if it wants to showcase our league during the finals. Mind you I don't think div 3 would look good on any ground.

Such a shit decision by the league in my opinion, i would have thought showcasing skills would have been important, instead as you both have stated, it is going to turn into contested, stoppage football = UGLY.
I do like the atmosphere of Clayton but thats the only box it ticks...........
No doubt the SFL have had this sorted a while ago with Clayton.

Venues are in.... Clayton 1's, Chelt 2's, Mordi 3's.
No pointing bitchin about it now... Just get on with the job.
After your cowardly effort last Sat it really just proves you love to mouth off from behind a keyboard. I was told you weren't brave when you played footy either. I asked you to come and say hello but you pretented you didn't see me. I went into your empty rooms after the game with your 6 supporters and you must have hid somewhere.
Too right thats all we can do is get on with the job, however as your President agrees, the ground size, the ground surface, the lack of shelter and the lack of carparking space presents a strong case not to host Div 1 finals at this venue.

The ground is actually in pretty good nick.. Except for the turf pitch obviously. Size though... Yeah a bit small. Might actually suit us better. Car Parking yeah, is an issue.. But they've held a heap of finals there in the past, in all divvy's and across a couple different comps, so they must do something right.
It will give us some good atmosphere at least, which was lacking at Springy.
I'm a Cups half full kinda guy, canya guess?

Gotta just get the job done i guess but it is disappointing that this venue was chosen when there was others with more upside...........Clayton must have photo's of boardmembers wives or something.
Doesnt suit the hard running Dingoes either but we arent complaining!!!

There isn't much point complaining now as all teams are in the same boat but it does definately affect those with a run & carry game plan.......
