Had heard the IGA like Chad was gone but would like to thank Tribey for allowing me to revisit and reminisce in a thread that like the trade period is probably going to run for a while and end with me disappointed and frustrated.

As foreshadowed in my recent post in the new Shanghai game thread, herewith an example of how and why PAFC has had no Joint Major Sponsor this year:

A week ago I was in conversation with a new drinking mate who runs an international business with 16 offices in China. He is a pom, from Birmingham, but nevertheless has become very interested in taking up a modest sponsorship package from us for Shanghai 2019.

I emailed the information to one of the Club’s three top commercial executives.

I received no reply.

Yesterday I sent a chaser.

Today I received an apology with an explanation.

My original email had ‘slipped through the in box’.

Nuff said.

A week ago I was in conversation with a new drinking mate who runs an international business with 16 offices in China. He is a pom, from Birmingham, but nevertheless has become very interested in taking up a modest sponsorship package from us for Shanghai 2019.

I emailed the information to one of the Club’s three top commercial executives.

I received no reply.

I’m not content to be ‘happy’ for the Club to finally nut out how to close a routine modest sponsorship deal aimed at China.
I am determined to kick this club of mine in the direction of the horizon labelled Perfection where every sponsorship deal is a big one, a unique one, the envy of Eddie Everywhere and everyone else in the entire AFL sphere.

I know what this situation is like ... from the PAFC side.
I know that this is about being under resourced.

The Catch22 of Sponsorship and Partnership management.

Under resourced ?

Mate, I’m a volunteer. I cost nothing. I pay my own way.
Yet, because I cost nothing and therefore have to be worth nothing, nobody listens to me.

It’s nothing to do with resources.
It’s to do with attitude.
It’s to do with passion.
It’s to do with fear ... fear because the Club has let itself sink to the lowly position of thinking they can do no better than to hire someone who comes with the fear of failure ... then waste 12 months before replacing him or her with more fear of failure.

I meant the team inside the club. (ie the ones not responding to you)
Email comms can be very chaotic at times and things do slip through the cracks.

Sponsorship $$ help create better resourced teams to respond to sponsorship opportunities to get sponsorship $$ that help create better resourced teams ...

That was the catch 22 I was referring to.

Today is Less Unhappy Friday.
There is a pulse at Alberton.
Have had communications with the Executive General Manager last night and our CEO today.
There are in fact a couple of partnership projects that I am involved with (in addition to those that the pros at Alberton have been working on but not announced yet).
One is huge, multi dimensional, one hell of a challenge, and is still taking shape even after we’ve been on it and off it for three-plus years.
It will secure the future of the Club, and will be our back up pillar to Mr. Gui if we can pull it off.
I shouldn’t be saying anything about it, I know, but after three-plus years ... what the hey.
It will have Fagan yawning technicolor all over his brothel creepers. Got to see that.

We're totally going into another season with a single major sponsorship deal worth far less than other clubs major sponsors.

We've got about 6 weeks before people will start really expecting something. Would be nice to hear some rumblings sometime soon.

If we go around this year without a joint major or oak stumping up extra cash, KT and Koch are useless to us and have failed to produce in the same fashion that the on-field guys have failed - bright early, shit since.

They friggan buried the Oak article about them being the sole major this year because they realised it looked shit. That was disgraceful.
