Question for the Dawks fans: if St Kilda are as pathetic and useless a club as you proclaim, why does it seem to live completely rent free in the heads of so many of you?
Yeh i can ****ing guarantee if i supported a club with a flag every 5 years since the 80s or whatever the figure is i wouldnt be slumming it in other boards clipping other clubs.

Why hasn’t this thread been moved to Bay 13. It’s ****ing ridiculous bullshit that adds nothing to the debate as to why the saints are still shit.

Yeah I'll accept adding him into that draft crop. I am not convinced he has a long term future at the top level but he has already surpassed expectations for a player picked that late.

I think if two years post draft you've parted ways with 2 x 2nd round picks it's a poor result. But, if Phillipou continues along the path he set in the 2nd half of the 2024 season, it papers over a lot of the cracks.
That's fair. I currently have it as a serviceable draft for us given 2 have worked and 2 haven't. If Keeler can come on next year, then it moves into the good territory.

I think this thread is way off topic and I responded to posts referring to hawthorn in my post

The best draft in 20 years? That is not accurate. It may be the most even draft but certainly doesn't seem to have any standout talents. We have brought in two best 23 players which in some years is much better than what you will do in a draft. The draft is just one way to bring in talent. As far as us jumping the shark or getting ahead of ourselves well that's left to be seen. One thing Hawthorn is certainly not is St Kilda so stop comparing us to your failures as a club. Just because you failed after making finals doesn't mean Hawthorn will.
I was actually taking the piss with the comment, just trying to show how most supporters use this thread as a chance to have a dig at our history and big up their own club. Sound familiar?

Im Better Pro Wrestling GIF by ALL ELITE WRESTLING

It was a point of MUCH discussion amongst the saints faithful early in the year, were we bottoming out and the 23 finals were a dead coach bounce and let me tell you i was scathing of them early on.

It looks more and more like injuries, game style adjustment and some development and testing players was more front half of the year and the back half was more what were capable of.

Weve lost an important part of a VERY good defensive unit and we still dont know what to do with Max but weve gained a proper inside ball winner and weve got a year of development into the kids (who look good).

Im about as pessimistic about the saints as any supporter and even im pretty optimistic about where we sit right now

Well at least you are honest and you dont have the same Toxic view Like Ports uncontrollable , violent and toxic hatred of Ken Hinkley as coach. This is despite the fact that Port has made top 4 basically 4 times in the last 5 years from 2020 to 2024.

one thing i do find amusing is SOS obsession with his blues rejects

/anyone he previously drafts
That sort of behaviour is consistent with someone who has a narcissistic personality.

They find the idea that they could be wrong about anything to be pretty much impossible, so if anything does go wrong, they’ll pretty much always see it as someone else’s fault, or that they were a victim of circumstances.

They will almost never see it as them just having been wrong about it.

So in this instance, he’ll still believe that these guys are as good or talented as he originally thought they were, and that the reason they haven’t been successful so far is that they’ve been mismanaged, or cruelled by injury, or circumstance.

Other things that also suggest a narcissistic personality include the massive grudge he seems to hold towards Carlton, that embarrassing episode recently when he sat in the car, rather than go into the rooms with the rest of his family, to celebrate Jacks 100th or whatever, and his general sullen demeanour.

Him also being good friends with Dodo also points in that direction, as Dodo is one of the most obvious examples of someone with a narcissistic personality that you would ever come across in life.

Birds of a feather flocking together.

Except it doesn't apply. Dow is the only associated Scum recruite.
Stocker was prior to SOS at Stkilda
Caminiti was never recruited to the Scum
Carroll was drafted subsequent to SOS being at the Scum.
The list of guys he’s gotten to his new clubs that he recruited at his old clubs is apparently closing in on 20. I saw the list recently and it was wild.

If he had more power with us guys like Marchbank would probably be heading our way.

I'm not saying it's not a thing but the appropriate measure is value and outcomes.
Taking the narrative on face value, of the 4 we've taken in we've only swapped Coffield for Dow and the rest were free.
There is no universe where that's not good business.

Stocker had been training at the club for months prior. Either way, I'm right.

I'm not sure it's right to suggest he had no input into either Stocker training there, or being picked up, despite not being officially on the payroll at the time.

SOS joining his mate Ross at the Saints had been talked about for months prior to that appointment being made official.

I obviously can't prove it of course, but I dare say most would agree Stocker joining the Saints had Silvagni's influence all over it.

As to a previous post, it really doesn't matter. Stocker came for nothing and has been very useful. It doesn't matter where they come from if value is there.

I agree with that and wasn't criticising Silvagni who I am a big fan of.

But yeah, I don't agree with any suggestion that he had nothing to do with Stocker joining the Saints. I think it's pretty obvious he would've been very involved in that decision, even though he only officially started a week later.
