When I first started getting into footy, North were the team I hated most. King Carey, the Guy Smiley lookalike John Longmire, that miserable git Pagan and the faceless vanilla team around them, their boring colours, name and club song and their arrogant and dull supporters that seemed more like rugby fans, all in one of the nothing-est areas of inner Melbourne. The only thing I liked about them is that Stan Alves used to play for them.

As their stocks dwindled, I started feeling sorry for them more. I found out they were an endangered species and I almost felt protective of them.

Now I don't have much opinion about them, heard that they're doing OK these days. Good on em, I guess. They've had 2 premierships to since I knew of their existence, that's plenty thank you. If it's gonna be one of those teams, I suppose I'd prefer the long suffering Bulldogs to get one, maybe even Richmond.

I think they're being underestimated by many on this forum, which is a shame, but I'm more confident against them than I was against GWS. I wouldn't begrudge them a win but I hope we kick their generic arses back to Blandsville.

Ha ha, Tim Watson's main problem with the Saints is the lack of replacements for an ageing defence. Sure, hard to replace champs. But I would have thought that there are other gaps to fill given some kids called Carlisle and Goddard in the wings. :drunk:
Goddard and Carlisle are different types of defenders then Fisher and Dempster though. Theyre both intercept/rebounding defenders as opposed to key position defence and I would agree we are light on for replacements for Fish and Dempster.

Paddy McCartin – Available
Nathan Freeman – 1 week
Dylan Roberton – 1 week

Has me thinking, Paddy and Lonie for Gresh and Minch, with Roo dropping back to help out in defence like he was doing last week.

Ahh and its only Wednesday...

Please win this weekend. The Norf supporters are insufferable at the moment. I think you guys are a good chance tbh. You should match up against them better than we did it. The football world is counting on you.
To be fair, the doggies supporters all had a fair bit of a head wobble happening until you got sent back down to earth on the weekend.

Was about to say... A Dogs supporter accusing someone of arrogance and being insufferable.

Pot. Kettle.

Other than the fade out against Port, we've done very well against sides with poor defense's (at that includes Hawthorn). North is strong defensively so Sunday will be a struggle.

I suspect North will do a GWS and not push their defenders so far up the ground which allows all of those "out the back" goals we scored against both Collingwood and Melbourne once we got possession at half back.

...but no pressure or anything

I think we recruited them as KPDs though didn't we?
Throw Delaney in that mix too I guess, assuming he survives on the list at all

Game plan against Saints should always be to makes us use our foot skills to try and spot a target inside 50 or force the long ball deep where u have the numbers.

Could not believe how poor the Dees were defensively on the weekend. The margin flattered them in the end they were absolutely smashed on the outside. North will be much harder to score against.

Dont mind North supporters. The supporters I find most cocky and insufferable are your fans.
God knows why. Maybe it is all the flags and GF's they have been in since 1961.

Something that we are building at the moment is a very dynamic team.
If we decide to bring in another tall defender (lee, goddard, del) to combat north's talls I can still see one change happening. Could bring in goddard at the expense of minchi and just send billings, weller etc to more forward time and draw monti, savage, web into the guts more often to fill those midfield minutes.

I like the optimism but I don't see it this week. 6/6 for tipping on St Kilda this season, let's hope it's 6/7 after this week.

Just have to bring in Lee or Goddard. Thomas out helps a bit, but all of their forwards are capable of killing us, not just the bigs. Sacrifice one of the small guys, unfortunate but has to be done imo.

I'd say keep everything else the same, could switch Lonie in for Gresh/Minch, I personally don't mind.

If we win this we should be playing finals this year. Like I said though I can't see that happening.

Thomas can take a week with an early plea. He is lucky to only get 2 for that. He is the sort of player most fathers would be ashamed of, sort of an anti-Lenny Hayes, he plays for free kicks, fakes injuries and now targets the opponents best player's head.
Speaking of shameful. "Targets", really?

Careless, High, Medium Impact. 2 weeks, down to 1 with early plea. Clearly crude, but not intentional.

That tackle would be an automatic 4-6 weeks in the NRL ugly to watch and lucky he wasn't seriously injured.
Did he mean to send him to the hospital no but it was totally deliberate his aim was to give a free make it hurt and hold up play
Stupid comments like that really make me hope we beat you guys it was a dog act stick to your own thread if you want to talk rubbish

Cant wait to get DMac in the side. The forgotten man in this rebuild I think. Will be a monster when he has 50 games under his belt. He, Sav and Web off half back will slice teams to shreds and he has the toughness to play back pocket and smash some blokes.

DMac and JWeb will be a much more talented version of Bakes and Dempster.

Watch the free kick that Thomas missed out on about 10 seconds before the Hunter 'tackle'.

Lindsay was pissed off & wanted to hurt someone. Hunter was the easy target.

Should have been intentional, low impact IMO.
