The Mayne man is a bit to young for north, maybe they'll pick him up after his 5 year multi million dollar deal ends with us

He'd look pretty sweet in that North kit though, I'd almost give up our chance at him to see that.

Give Nutjob a break, defending Lindsay Thomas on opposition boards is bound to be a full time job so I'm assuming he doesn't have time to proof read his posts, or attend school.

That tackle would be an automatic 4-6 weeks in the NRL ugly to watch and lucky he wasn't seriously injured.
Did he mean to send him to the hospital no but it was totally deliberate his aim was to give a free make it hurt and hold up play
Stupid comments like that really make me hope we beat you guys it was a dog act stick to your own thread if you want to talk rubbish
How is suggesting it wasn't intentional, but careless, a stupid comment/talking rubbish, particularly when the MRP itself has come to the same conclusion? And, a pet hate of mine, when it comes to Lindsay is "character assassination", so I was sticking up for one of our own in response to some hyperbole that tended in that direction.

To suggest NRL rules and penalties around tackling, which doesn't have the same 360 context etc., seems irrelevant. Yes, Hunter was lucky he wasn't seriously injured and I'm sure we all, including Lindsay, are glad that's the case. But, you know, that's why the AFL have identified "intent", "impact" and "body part" separately as part of their consideration; all factors are considered. Rance's actions, for example, were intentional, Lindsay's split second actions were crude/reckless/careless, in my humble opinion.

End of the day he isn't playing, and I think you're the beneficiaries of this.

The mistake here is assuming you have right of reply on this board.

Watch the free kick that Thomas missed out on about 10 seconds before the Hunter 'tackle'.

Lindsay was pissed off & wanted to hurt someone. Hunter was the easy target.

Should have been intentional, low impact IMO.

I agree with this, it was dog, but so good at the same time. We used to have Archer, Pickett, Carey, Martyn, Stevens all of whom didn't mind inflicting a bit of pain.

Nothing wrong with intending to hurt, Stevie Baker was one of my all time favourite saints. Ditto Hamill, when he was fit. And let's not forget my fave all time saint plugger, who loved a bit of pain. Hamill stands out as he hunted the ball like a man possessed, such a burning desire to get ball and hurt player.

You need those players to win flags.

Plus it was those dirty dogs, if you don't hate those flogs, then you're not a proper fan.

I sense a great disturbance in the thread... As if many posts cried out in outrage... And were suddenly silenced...

I fear something terrible has happened...

I didn't think the Thomas tackle was all that bad. Poor result but I don't think the intent was there as much as it has been made out, especially by some sooks from Footscray.

Agree with this.

Also thought it was a real **** act by Bontempelli interviewed a day or two after the game and talking about how shaken up Hunter was and how the dogs were a bit dirty on it, speaking as if he's been knifed not just ducked and taken a hit. Thought players usually looked out for each other.

Was definitely made a bigger deal because of who it was that laid the tackle.

Round 23 2011 since we beat them.

Just in case you were wondering, this is what the team looked like that night:

Dempster Dawson Gilbert
Gram Fisher Goddard
Montagna Dal Santo Peake
Ray Riewoldt Polo
Milne Koschitzke Schneider
McEvoy Jones Steven
Armitage
Ray R Clarke Sub: Geary

Bolded players still at the club - all played last week.

Wait there... I expect Dal Santo to play... :(

Tough three weeks for Tom Hickey. Did the job against Max Gawn now cops Todd Goldstein and then gets Nic Natanui the following week.

Although looking at the stats I can't see how Hickey (rated 351 on the AFL player ratings) can be rated 348 places lower than Goldstein and 346 places lower than Nic Nat.

that ranking system is shit.

I think the ranking system is based off their last 50 games. So it's very much about consistency over a long period of time. No doubt Hickey will move up the ranks over this year if he keeps his form up.

No mention of either Lee or Goddard in the "In The Mix" article on the Saints website, so it seems like we might not be going to go taller down back.

Mentioned Lonie, Murdoch ("23rd man" for us last week), Curren, Eli and Paddy Mac.
another one of richos silent whacks for goddard.
