the pies have done us a huge favour in going down to north. if we can get over carlton this weekend we will again be 6 clear of 5th. There is a footy god. Now up to the swans to prove they really want it. i am convinced its a hunger factor as much as anything with this team. not disregarding we need alot of improvement by certain players and our skill level has been poor recently, but with 6 games to go after this weekend, if we can be 1 and a half games clear, we are in with a shot. Top that if we could knock over dogs or cats or both, which isnt an impossibility, not likely, but possible, we could be in for a hell of a ride home.

Yeah good point, watched the game last night was very pleased with the result. Not sure about how many we can drop from here on in, but youd think anymore than 2 games and we would lose 4th place.
I havent looked at the Pies draw or Nth Melbournes, either way we need to improve a hell of alot regardless..
Heres hoping...

It always remained likely that we were in with a very good shot of finishing top 4, even after the last two defeats. Even if we lose to the Dogs, Pies (again) and the Cats we may well still limp into 4th place. Pies still look the most convincing challengers but I think they play another couple of games against the top 3. Brisbane aren't good enough, Crows seem to be struggling, North are very inconsistent, Blues aren't good enough and I don't think the Saints are either.

Freo would need a miracle to beat us at the SCG given they've not won there for donkeys and are crap this year even at home. We seem to have Brisbane's measure. So long as the skill level increases a modicum tomorrow and Fevola doesn't go on a rampage I think we should get over them - we've done pretty well in beating the teams we "should" beat this year, even if it hasn't always been convincing.

The interesting one is next weekend against our bogey team, the Crows. If we're ever going to get over them, it has to be this time. They're on a long losing streak and play a Showdown this weekend. Regardless of whether they win or lose to Port, those games always seem to take something out of both teams. The Crows were inept the week after the first Showdown of this season. If we win that one, I think we're more likely to finish 4th than not.

Fact remains, however, that there's a huge gap this year between the top 3 and the rest.

Geez it's crushing watching the cats play. We have a good chance at top 4 but I don't think any team is capable of getting anywhere near Geelong at the moment. Especially not us.

We can win. Its just a question of how quickly Barry Hall can knock out most of their best players. If he can knock out half a dozen of them before 1/4 time then we may have a chance.

Switch back on swans. the top[ 4 is there for the taking.

Carlton tomorrow but the run home has some tough matches but . Bogey side the crows are injury ridden and not at the peak of their game, The bulldogs met a sensational side today but have been exposed. The game at Manaku is winnable.

I don't know we can beat the cats but the big wake up call is the pies again. As an attendee at the pies V Roos game last night exposed what real pressure does to their quality of disposal, including Thomas.

Beating them and The Dogs will involve us playing optimum football and relentless at playing our best. But it is achievable. from the top 4, anything is possible.

We will get a double chance if we end up fourth but the downside is that we play Geelong in our first final.
Footy can be a funny game....we may have Geelongs measure in September.

:D Well there's already one star down in G.Ablett so there's one less for Baz to do.
