The key to winning was to deny the Swans their short, uncontested game. We didn't.
We had to lower our eyes and hit up leading targets inside 50. We didn't.
We had to keep manic pressure all night. We didn't.
We had to minimise the impact of Heeney, Gulden and Warner. We didn't.

It was a coaching failure, plain and simple.

Travis Boak cannot hit a kick.
Charlie Dixon can't raise his arms above his head.
Connor Rozee cannot lay a tackle.
He had 4 tonight - only Sweet had more with 5.
Had 9 last week - only Wines had more with 10.
And he against Geelong he had 7 - the most on the ground.

But hey, don't let the truth get in the way of a good story...

This is wrong. It shows how near impossible it is for us to win an away prelim, others have no problem. For example ...

'03 Brisbane d Sydney
'04 Brisbane d Geelong
'05 Sydney d St Kilda
'06 West Coast d Adelaide
'15 Hawthorn d Fremantle
'16 Sydney d Geelong
'16 Bulldogs d GWS
'19 GWS d Collingwood
'20 Richmond d Port
'20 Geelong d Brisbane
'21 Bulldogs d Port

11 times in 22 seasons with the strong possibility of another tomorrow. A very high number considering that plenty of prelims are neutral games between two Victorian teams. Our inability to win finals of any sort against any opposition at any venue with any coach and any group of players is unique and stark.
That's 1 in 4 games (11 of 44), with 2 of those being our exact failures at home that I'm calling out. Our inability to convert 2 homes finals, when the odds from that are you win 3 of every 4, is ridiculous. If we can't win them with our style and the way our club is, we ain't winning the 1 in 4 away final.

Winning an away prelim is a massive, massive effort, done 25% of the time, you can't be banking on those sorts of odds.

I love Boak and he's been a solid contributor this year, including tonight, but those horrible turnovers and failure to convert opportunities are consistent features of his game that again reared their ugly head tonight, and again raise the question of whether it's time for him and the club to move on. But if we were to move past Boak, who are we putting games into in his place? How many young players are really knocking on the door demanding selection?

None but you got to make changes to create the opportunity to improve the team.

Boak probably goes around again and will go out on his own terms not off the back of a game like that. We as a club are too soft to force a club great into retirement or trade much like the Hawks did with Mitchell and Lewis. If we’re so adamant on keeping him just Luke Breust his ass and make him sub every game til he reaches whatever milestone the club is trying to achieve.

That's why we need a real coach ... a winner ... to make the decisions that must be made.

That did not feel like a 36 point loss. **** me we were aids.
It's because when we play like that the result is absolutely locked in and completely obvious a long way out. So the game is just going through the motions. The only difference between this week and the other similar games we've seen lately, where we've been blown out big time when that feeling slides over us, was that they kicked 5.10 and totally took the footy off in the last. They kick straight in that last half, get even more momentum, and that could've been a well over 10 goal smashing.

Nope. 12 were neutral games and the 44th game isn't being played until tomorrow. So it's actually 11/31 which is a 35% win ratio for away teams in prelims.

He missed SEVERAL. Go back and watch the tape and watch players run through his tackles constantly. Rozee is a horrendous tackler, he costs us regularly when he has opponents done cold but they just waltz through his weak efforts.

Off of the Boak turnovers, and onto Mead. I mean Mead has been terrible the whole back part of the year, what I don't get, is for such a natural footballer, that's probably grown up kicking balls in his sleep, how is he such a BAD kick! The amount of balls that slide off his boot is just ridiculous. He's supposed to be a good kick and if he wants to play, he needs to be far more effective. Right now he is nowhere near it.

He’s small, not fast, can’t mark, we watch him shank kicks, what’s the point of him?
