Y'know what's hilarious? Ed's tweet having a go at Pridham for using twitter. Apparently its okay to use your own tv show, and every other show Ed appears on to vent. But using twitter is just not ON! Possibly because Ed's fingers are so fat he can't hit the buttons quickly enough.

It wasn't Eddie who said that, just some random person on Twitter.

Straight off the bat he goes on about COLA and how Freo asked but didn't get. Then he goes on about how our tall timber & midfield don't have a lot of chemistry because Tippos been in & out. Oh,, and when they bring it to ground we've got no small forwards.

Edit: And then says Comp is split into A & B and how we don't get to play against the likes for Freo & Hawthorn. Except, y'know, we've already played them both.

Connolly. Not a very good coach. Just saying. :p

On Pridham,

Very happy to see him become a presence in the media. And tweeting that response was hilarious. It wasn't a formal forum so it was fine. And he obviously has a sense of humour. :D

But if the Age are now closely watching his comments he could quickly become a regular part of the news cycle.

Slow work week. What did Pridham say?

Then again, Eddie has been working in that space for years. And that's the point Pridham is very effectively making.

Problem with him is he and the likes of Peter Gordon still think it's the 1970's VFL and he'd like to take us all back to the days of playing on a muddy Victoria Park in substandard suburban ovals.

Some presidents of Victorian AFL club and some supporters of Victorian clubs still think it's the VFL and interstate clubs like the Swans are just invited guests in a Victorian competition dressed as a national competition.

Watch the ed and derm show for another laugh.. You know what's it's about.

They need to rename it "Ed and Derm's Big Hate On Sydney"!

I love how Eddie constantly tried to make it out like it was all silly and the Swans were precious and petty and then sink another slipper in straight after!

Eddie responds:

Was told of Pridham's comments. Says:

1. Who is Andrew Pridham? Some of us have been around the game for more than half a minute.
2. He is not against Academies. He just wants all teams to have them.
3. Claims Pridham is fighting for the club while others (suggesting himself) have the greater good of the game at heart
4. Says Collingwood voted for GWS's inclusion in the comp and Sydney voted against them.

My response:

1) Andrew has been on the Board of the Swans for 12 years. Slightly more than a minute there. This is a smug backhander worthy of the Bay.

2) Academies costs millions. Excuse me, but how are the Dogs supposed to run an Academy?

I'll defer to Pridham's perfect point on this matter: All clubs in traditional states have the entire school system doing the job of the Academies. :thumbsu:

3) :eek::eek::eek::eek::drunk:

4) This is a lie. We did vote for them.

Further to this, this is part of the campaign to paint us as the robber barons of the League. Just in it for ourselves. The fact that Colless was one of the most vocal campaigners for Equalisation just gets binned as irrelevant apparently.

Only those who attended the AFL junket and steered its course towards the ends of their own clubs care about Footy it would seem.

C'mon, Eddie. Is that all you've got?

Two weeks ago I wrote to the Telegraph & SMH and demanded as our city newspapers they defend our team. I called them cowards actually.

Happy to now pen two new emails to Wu & Cordy telling them to keep up the good work & stand firm. Albeit Pridham was the catalyst, but at least they went on the front foot with him. That Tele cartoon of The Eddie & Palmer is a classic.

Just saw this posted on twitter re: our list management.

Just a little reminder to all the critics of our salary cap/list management. NO club has done as well with their list management as us. With only two Top 10 draft picks, we have been a step ahead in Drafting/Trading and Free Agency, which has been complimented by some of the best rookie list elevations and development coaching that you will ever see. This all seems to have been lost over the past couple of seasons, as our ongoing success has all been put down to the COLA.
Rhyce Shaw - Traded in from Collingwood
Jarrad McVeigh - Pick 5
Dan Hannebery - Pick 30
Ryan O'Keefe - Pick 56
Tom Mitchell - Father/Son
Harry Cunningham - Rookie List

Collingwood president Eddie McGuire has launched another stinging attack on Sydney, and also taken aim at rival club presidents and even one of his own employers, as his feud with the Swans intensifies.
What an idiot. 'Swans haven't developed anything up there'? Look at the team that played on saturday night. BIRD RAMPE CUNNINGHAM 2XJACK MCVEIGH all from NSW. Throw in LRT and Peris who didn't play.

He speaks a load of s**t. No wonder the other presidents don't want to back him. Step out of football mcguire and stick with the melbourne stars. Your time is up.

What a ******g windbag. So far off the mark with his comments.

At least he'll have time to take a breather during September.

My sentiments exactly DA.

McGuire is a ****ing prick of the highest order and the Clive Palmer comparison was spot on the money.

The truth hurts and he doesn't like it one ****ing bit.

Wow.

Desperately clutching at deck chairs on the Titanic now he's begging the AFL Commission to come in and tell the Swans to stop being meanies, or something to that effect? :D

Fancy Dredging up Colless giving him the finger incident (which was actually a joke at the time). Wasn't that like DECADE ago?

And now the Swans are controlling Caroline Wilson to orchestrate attacks on him?

And that reference to the Swans "refusing" to develop the game is a complete misdirection. The Swans made a point that developing the code in NSW at personal cost was not their job. It was the job of the League.

And Pridham (whom he's effectively labelled a lightweight) is now impuning his integrity? Meanwhile he is slurring Longmire as being "Petty" and "Unaustralian"?

And we're stiffing the League by refusing to pick Lenny Hayes from NSW? We picked Jude Bolton? What's he on about? Our co-captain list is pretty much NSWelshman these days.

And we didn't pick up Witts when we had Mumford, Pyke and several other junior Ruckmen on the list, so we're..um...not backing talent in this state?

The role of a newspaper is not to take sides, it is to tell the truth. I know this is laughable in the case of the Telegraph (or any Murdoch paper) but it remains the case nevertheless.

If you are calling them cowards for failing to tell the truth, then fair enough.

It must have been a long time since another club has stood up and smacked him down and for all his bluff he really has nothing.

Reality has set in for the Pies
a) they aren't a force (struggling to make 8)
b) don't attract the crowds they used to (the AFL should ask the Magpies for compensation after yesterday given the team didn't turn up to play......)
c) don't attract/pilfer the players they used to (recent trades include White/Lynch)
d) if Buckley fails McGuire will follow suit
e) for all the carry on the Pies have only won 2 flags in 55 years or if you want to be harsh 4 in 77 years(COLA and Swans academy haven't been around that long to impact the competition).
f) majority of their flags were won in the first 40 years of the competition (they are no different to South Sydney in league hanging onto a bygone era of success).
