I wonder if Gulden, who is a lot shorter than Papley, could slip a dozen picks for the same reason.

For Beatson, it was just another heart-in-your-mouth moment of cat and mouse that all recruiters play during the drafting process. But he admitted to doing all he could to ensure Papley ended up in red and white.

"We had to set up a few things [before the rookie draft], making a few calls as if we were interested in other players - just to put the wind up other clubs so they didn't (pick Papley)," Beatson says. "You're always trying to position yourself as best you can ... you're not trying to manipulate the draft, but you're trying to influence it!"

Maybe why we are not interested in Hollands or Phillips :think:

I wouldn’t say 2cm is a lot shorter. Papley was also 176cm at draft (who was 19, supposedly he has grown 2cm). Someone around here said they questioned his listed 178cm.

Gulden is 175.9 according to the measurements taken around the academy trials in August which I am guessing by the decimal that they’re quite accurate.

Sometimes media can amplify small things and they can have bigger implications and outcomes. Someone just needs to send out a few tweets that he is shorter.

It definitely feel like an area where we've gone backwards in the last 5 or so years. Didn't Brisbane poach some of strength and conditioning staff around that time? They've had a dream injury run of late.

IMO there is, almost every opening pic is Gulden, but I may be biased.
