Announcement: Swans YouTube Channel
So thanks to the awesome Kennedy Parker you will notice a sticky post at the top of the pages now. This link will take you directly to the Swans YouTube channel which features interviews etc.

I thought Harley sounded quite pissed off as if preliminary discussions have started with regards to Dawson and the Swans weren't buying what Adelaide were selling.

I know there's the view that we roll over at the first tickle, but I sense we're not happy with the Dawson situation and even less happy with Adelaide at this point of time.

FWIW I'd also point out Charlie Gardiner came to us from Arnold Bloch Leibler where he was a senior associate in their dispute resolution and litigation team.
They are renowned hard negotiators and not known to be ticklish.

I had always thought we tried to do the "right thing" by our players wherever we could. Aliir went with our blessing because Port offered more than we were prepared to and everyone seems to have been upfront plus we got enough for Tom and to get Gulden without going into deficit. Not a bad outcome all in all.
In this case though you get the feeling as if "It's all good" until it isn't and we're left feeling stupid having put a damn good offer on the table.
Wonder if the Crows have been doing too much naughty whispering?

Agreed. imo it'll either be the crows give a reasonable trade offer or Dawson re-signs with us. It sounds like we thought & maybe even Dawson thought he was going to stay with us but had a change of heart at the last moment. All the messaging in the media from the Swans since the Dawson news broke has indicated that we weren't expecting it and that he's vital to our future. No wonder we're playing hardball.

Just another point re Harley chat, looks like the club assumed Dawson was re-signing so we couldn't/didn't want to spend $$$ on Hewett but now that Dawson is likely leaving, we might match Hewetts offer? Depending on what he actually gets offered.

From Harley's interview I got the vibes that we are moving him on. Spoke Glowingly of him as a person. bad vibes.

Agree with this.

Basically regardless of what posters here think (which includes me) the club thinks:
- he is replaceable
- he will be overtaken by juniors soon
- the downside cost of paying him $1.8m over 4 years is we will lose young stars.

Also noting we tried to trade him last year and that we back ended his deal on purpose so we didn’t get royally screwed on his trade has put us in this position intentionally.

Expect him to go and honestly wish him all the best.

So this has ROK written all over it again. I get the vibe Dawson is already out the door. I'd be shocked if he was in red and white next year

I honestly sometimes think clubs should just ask Lore what they think the compo will be for free agency. More trust than AFL House
