So thanks to the awesome Kennedy Parker you will notice a sticky post at the top of the pages now. This link will take you directly to the Swans YouTube channel which features interviews etc.

Meh. Nothing will ever change until the day media appearance fees, sponsorship deals etc are also included in a cap, which will be never. Too easy for Vic clubs get a regular appearance slot on tv or radio to top up the salary so they can guarantee an additional income outside the cap.

Listing to trade radio, every ad was a VIC player.

There are well established formulas to work out cost of living adjustments. Big companies use consultants to do it all the time when they move people around.
I was subject to just such when I worked overseas. It normally works on part of the salary, not all of it. Plus 10% in Germany, minus 25% in Malaysia. Calculated rental allowances and so on. Victoria would be the obvious base as it has the largest number of players by far. Sydney higher, Brisbane and Adelaide lower, no idea about Perth. Holds for the life of the contract but needs regular review.
Such a logical and reasonable idea, ergo the AFL would never use it.

Peter Ladhams manager is coming up on SEN

How many times have Carlton got an A or better rating whilst we get a C or lower? And outside of a year or two, we finish higher then them on the ladder
St Kilda got a B for doing nothing and we got a C-

Did they just throw darts to select the score? Christ on a bike!

Yep, I'd understand the C- if we hadn't have landed Ladhams and it's not like we had a leg to stand on with the Judas debacle.

As a side note, I notice there's been no "Sydney Swans thank Judas Dawson" article on the clubs website, just a cursory one line in the trade update.
Think we are pretty pissed off as a club and not 100% certain he has the "great relationships back in Sydney" that he thinks he has.

Now just Foxfooty's opinion but we got the lowest score of any team.

Hawthorn went in with a clear strategy of moving on older players for draft picks and they failed.(Fox Rating C)
Gold Coast are lauded for trading picks out for 2021 and into next year. They didn't have much choice because they cocked up their list and had too many players under contract for 2022. (rated B+)
GWS trade out Finlayson and that's their only move and get a B.
To quote Jon Ralph on St Kilda "They literally did nothing" (Dunstan left) and got rated B.

Sydney got a first rd pick for an out of contract player, with the threat of the PSD hanging over our head.

And dropped down 4 spots in the first round in an open draft and gave up a 3rd rounder for a player who hopefully can hold down the ruck position for a number of years (and can play fwd if necessary in the interim).

And decided that Hewett wasn't part of the future and a got a late 2nd round compo pick.

Losing Dawson hurts, but I think the list management team did their job well and certainly more deserving than a C-.

We did the best we could, but the Dawson betrayal meant we were never going to be a “winner” this time round.

But as Carlton prove year-after-year, you can “win” the trade period & still be a basket case if you screw up the draft.

Trade Period Assessments

Well you couldn't get much more different assessments than those! Fox said we did OK but rated a C. Huh? Port a B. Huh?
AFL much more sensible. No ratings but pretty fair assessments.
Fox? WTF?

Totally agree. Played the hand we'd been dealt as well as possible. Hewett had been set up for ages. Classic example of our club dealing well with players and I wouldn't have it any other way.
Ladhams possibly very slightly overs at = pick 24 but 31 was never going to cut it so IMO a fair outcome.
Dawson was only a matter of getting the best we could. A first rounder, no matter how poor, was always as good as it would get.
So no starring tricks but certainly no stuff ups. Ladhams seems super excited to be coming and that's a good sign.
