Gold City Royals 18.11 (119) defeated Sin City Swamprats 11.10 (76)

5 rounds in and another loss to the luckless Rats. They started well, but obviously decided that tanking was the better option, and let the Royals overwhelm them in the second half. My mate Footypie32 did the job in the middle for the Royals setting up a great spread of goalkicker up front with @Old Dark Navy, burningdwarf and @CakeEaterwith 3 apiece. Cloud_ nabbed 5, but lacked the support elsewhere. Can the Swampies snap the slump. Prediction is grim.​

Now it is time to take our focus away from the round by round voting to crown someone king of the rookie class for Season 24.

The EKA medal is awarded to the best first season posters and has been won by some of the leagues biggest names such as croweater 41, pantskyle, Wacky Tiger and Willo_.

These list of players are the future of our league, and those who have placed tonight I have great confidence should they stick around, will be some of the best posters in the very near future...

ROUND SIX:​

Round 6 saw us turn back the clock, and celebrate heritage round, or as us Roys call it, the weekend. We donned fancy woolen strips, changed our names by need poll, allowed more casual racism and sexism than ever before to celebrate the good old halcyon days, where posters new their places and banter was at a minimum.​

G1:

Roys FC 12.15 (87) defeated Las Vegas Bears 10.14 (74)

Our first match of the Round was a hair extravaganza. The luscious coats of the Gorillas slamming up against the those beautiful bear pelts. The Roys started the round the way they left the last, unable to kick straight. Shots flew wild and wide, thankfully the Bears seemed content to hangout on the hill and enjoy the fireworks. 9 first quarter points are a disgrace. As the game wore on the Roys change their tactics, trying to get as close to the goals before kicking as possible, and it worked. The behinds became goals and the Bears were caught napping. Mooch and Broken traded shots in the last, but the Roys held their failing nerve to outlast a fast finishing Bear unit. Barrels with a lovely 4 behinds and JoshWoodenSpoon showing their ability.​

G2:

Seventh Wonders 12.7 (79) lost to Team Pump 21.5 (131)

Our match of the round, didn’t live up to it’s billing. We expected two of the oldest teams to put on a show, in the end it was all Pumpage. cats2rise nailed 7, cooney had more possessions than words, and Team Pump nee Demons destroyed the Wonders across the ground. NickCC again the only Wonder worth a shout. A fizzler of a MOTR, but enough for the Demons nee Pump to sneak into the 8.​

G3:

Alberton Swamprats 12.12 (84) lost to Geelong Gumbies 17.9 (111)

Gumbies do it easy. Aside from a 3rd Quarter charge, the Rats were never in it. 6 losses in a row, things are getting dire. The Gumbies however continue to fly under the radar early on, with some solid performances. Fryer Tuck and 06Premiers were the dominant duo on the day. Can anything save the Rats?​

G4:

BigFooty Bombers 16.11 (107) lost to Gold City Royals 20.8 (128)

The Bombers again looked to Haro and Kohphi for their run and gun, but again aside from LicoriceAllsorts, they were severly lacking support. So a fast start was wasted as the Royals put their foot down and grounded the Bombers. The Royals had 6 players tear the Bombers apart, former Roys Willo_ and @panstkyle and future Roys Red mist, Ulahoopski, Thatsapaddlin and my biographer Footypie32. These 6 ran riot. Collecting possession like a hoarder running out of time. The Bomber tried to fight their way back, but the Royals had too much control.​

G5:

Coney Island Warriors 19.11 (125) defeated Fighting Furies 13.3 (81)

And the streak is snapped. League leaders furies, slip from atop the SFA mountain as the Warriors ride @itsmyshows 8 goals to do it easy. Sublime service from @RedVest4made it all so much easier. No furies deserve a mention as it was an utterly insipid team performance. Shame.​

G6:

Southern Dragons 13.16 (94) defeated East Side Hawks 11.7 (73)

The current vs former admin. This one is all about bragging rights, but the most satisfying part about this game is they both were pretty ordinary. The Hawks spent the game playing catch up and never ever caught up. cammo6556 kept he Dragons ticking over, and the Hawks one step behind. Hatchy1992 backed up is stellar 7 goal performance with a 8 behind performance. Glorious kicking.​
