Now it is time to take our focus away from the round by round voting to crown someone king of the rookie class for Season 24.

The EKA medal is awarded to the best first season posters and has been won by some of the leagues biggest names such as croweater 41, pantskyle, Wacky Tiger and Willo_.

These list of players are the future of our league, and those who have placed tonight I have great confidence should they stick around, will be some of the best posters in the very near future...

Congratulations to Yakker of the Mount Buller Demons on being the Season 24 EKA Medallist.

ROUND FIVE:​

Hi fitzroybowiedog here to chat to you about a few of the important things in life. Namely Round 5, Round 6, Round 7 and Round 8 of Season 24 of the Sweet FA. I’ve asked our lovely hosts for the night to let me know if I ramble too much by playing a bit of music to remind me to get back on topic.

<awesome power hype voice> How good was Season 24?

It was different wasn’t it? But that is the Sweet FA for you, never a dull moment, plenty of fire and general mediocrity from my lovely Roys. Never Change.


Ok now, let’s get on with show and find out who will collect the shiny Mobbs votes, because honestly none of you really came here to listen to me talk.​

G1:

​

East Side Hawks 16.15 (111) defeated Coney Island Warriors 17.6 (108)

There is something about the The Filth Wizard that just makes people cry. This time it was the whole Warriors squad in tears, and anyone who had money on the result. In an up and down game where the Warriors held the upper hand for most of the game, led by the efforts of zackah, fromer Roy Itsmyshow and Packedlunch, the Hawks swooped in with the victory with seconds remaining. They should have done it a bit easier but “stars” BigJoeD_, BRAB and tgrs preferred behinds to goals.​

G2:

Fighting Furies 15.12 (102) defeated Baghdad Bombers 10.14 (74)

The Furies are the alternate universe Swampies. Winning 5 on the trot, and doing it easy. In front all day, blanketing the Bombers with great zonal and mullet pressure. NaturalDisaster and JackNah_8 impressed in the yellow and black, showing the Furies youth movement is alive and well, while the Bombers relied too much on HaroLad and KohPhi. Furies with ease​

G3:

Dragons FFC 19.4 (118) defeated West Coast Wonders 12.9 (81)

Hatchy1992 was the star of the show on Dragon Island hammering 7 past the Wonders in a very one sided affair. His 5 first half goals triggered an avalanche of Dragon scoring as they tore away from the Wonders very early on. Once the half time siren sounded, the game was pretty much done. The Dragons cruised, WFL, Determinant and old man Hate making sure the Wonders never looked a chance. NickCC is the only Wonder that gave a shout and can hold his head up high.​

G4:

Gold City Royals 18.11 (119) defeated Sin City Swamprats 11.10 (76)

5 rounds in and another loss to the luckless Rats. They started well, but obviously decided that tanking was the better option, and let the Royals overwhelm them in the second half. My mate Footypie32 did the job in the middle for the Royals setting up a great spread of goalkicker up front with @Old Dark Navy, burningdwarf and @CakeEaterwith 3 apiece. Cloud_ nabbed 5, but lacked the support elsewhere. Can the Swampies snap the slump. Prediction is grim.​

G5:

Gumbies FFC 12.7 (79) defeated Roys FFC 9.17 (71)

Booooo Gumbies. No biases here, I swear. The Gumbies led all day in a match dogged by bad kicking (from the Roys) and wasteful possessions (From the Roys). The Gumbies held on to well-deserved win, but the Roys needed to do better, kicking 17 behinds. 26 scoring shots to 19, should normally lead to a win, but the Roys always find away. Golumless was probably the stand out performer but it was nice to see old farts Wise Guy Sam and StFly turn back the clock. ​

G6:

​

Las Vegas Bears 16.8 (104) defeated Mount Buller Demons 9.6 (60)

If you ever want to see what it looks like when a team forgets to turn up for the second half, then watch the replay to this game. The first half, the Demons looked silky smooth like EKA favourite @sausagerolls arse, and then the second half, they went missing. Both literally and figuratively. They scored 8.6 in the first, and then 1, just one in the second. The Bears barely broke a sweat, Doctor Gero and JoshWoodenSpoon cruised the park setting up easy shots for Broken and the other Bears. Quite a startling display from the Demons.​
