If he plays well and stays out of trouble then i won't mind him. BUT if we lose one of our younger guys for him.. i don't care how well he plays, i'll hate him.

For me it would depend on which young player that was. If it was someone who will genuinely struggle for a spot over the next two years, I wouldn't be so upset. Brisbane were in a similar position when Craig Bolton left. Sure they were sad to see Bolton leave, but there was simply no room and he was desperate for a chance to play.

Yeah, depends on who it is. Hopefully no one i like. I've never seen a player that i liked go to another club and i don't want it to start happening now.

As long its not any of our Top 22 and some of our Rookies (Spriggs, Grundy, Flipper, Willoughby) , then I'll welcome Spida.

he looked better on tv back in the 60s.

would you guys entertain Pick 24 & Spida for pick 15?

Yes, sounds reasonable :thumbsu:

I'm hopeful Roosy doesn't allow any of our best 22 or brightest youngsters to leave (Grundy, Moore, Philips, etc..). Roosy has developed a nice young list of talented players and I can't see him cutting them from his plans unless they're not able to press for a permanent spot.

Can trade the ex-Geelong boys (Spriggs and Charmers) ...they were a mistake to pick, especially Charmers...needs to pull his finger out of his ass!

My concern with Everitt is more off field than on field. He's a guy who when asked about his sister suing him replied along the lines of "couldn't give a stuff". Not exactly the Bloods spirit. Sure he may be mates with Bazza, but I fear that unlike Hall Everitt isn't for redeeming at the age of 32, particularly with a guaranted $800,000 2 year contract. I think it would be a disaster if a Moore or Vogels or Laidlaw (or even Doyle to a lesser degree) was traded for a 32 yo disruptive influence. it seems Hawthorn may accept a 2nd rd pick and a player for Everitt. That to me is far too high a price to pay. Wait for the preseason draft, if need be, and if he falls to Sydney so be it.

Spida is a gamble...sure...but one worth taking! The swannies have no real answer to competing ruckmen like Cox, Sandilands and the like. As much as Jolly has improved, he was pathetic on GF day and needs to continue to develop his game to help Sydney's immediate premiership aspirations for the next couple of years! Spida is a highly experienced! tap ruckmen (just what Sydney needs!!!), he can also kick goals drifting into the forward 50 (just what Sydney needs!!!), he can also help coach our young line of developing ruckmen (Jolly, Ericksen, Shaw, etc..).

As for Spida's discipline and committment, I think he is very much in the same mould as Barry Hall, and therefore could find real strength within the Blood's culture and show the AFL world what he is capable of - which I think will be sensational!!!:thumbsu: :thumbsu:

....time will tell of course

As for players Sydney could trade. In my opinion I think the following players are in the mix (up to Roosy who he thinks can press for a permanent spot in the 22 over the next couple of years)

Possible Trades:
David Spriggs
Andrew Ericksen
Ben Mathews
Earl Shaw
Matthew Davis
Matthew Laidlaw
Paul Chambers
Ryan Brabazon
Tim Schmidt
Josh Willoughby

My first thought would be Paul Chambers, David Spriggs and Ben Mathews for Spida - that looks fair for both teams, and Sydney keeps their early draft picks!

Paul Chambers is gone. I don't think he'll return to footy. I think he left the club already.

I was thinking the other day about Spider and the SCG. From what i can remember Spider in the last few games against us was nearly best on ground and kicked a few long goals.

I don't like us getting spider but i can see a lot of pros and some cons. We need a tap ruckman badly and spider is one of the best even at his age. I agree Jolly needs more work and was IMHO a crucial factor why we didn't go back to back.

I think the fact that he (spider) has a very close friendship with hall and knowing full well that the senior players and Roos are keen to give him a go would suggest that spider will not (hopefully) bring his bad ways to sydney. Barry would have had long chats about this with Spider i am sure.

Similar scenario with Tony Lockett and Barry Hall. :D

I don't know. I'm neutral about Spida at the moment. He is good and all, but at what cost? Theres only a couple of seasons left in him.. and we pay a hefty price. However, if it worth it? Will we trade some players just to get Spida? So i personally don't know.

Swan midfielder Nick Malceski is one player whose name has been mentioned in the media in a possible trade scenario for the ruckman.

"(He's) certainly one of the players discussed," Pelchen admitted.

Pelchen (Hawthorn's list manager) plays these games, (as he did at Port Adelaide) and all of a sudden Malceski is unsettled and starts looking for a trade himself.

Sydney have to make it clear NOW that he's not available, under any circumstances.

Sydney: So what will it be for Peter Everitt
Hawthorn: Nick Malceski
Sydney: Sorry not available for trade
Hawthorn: Ok
Sydney: Ok

Thats all there was. Hawthorn asked, sydney refused. Simple.

He will not go close to wearing any other strip other than red and white.

That's not the way Pelchen works. If it were that simple Pelchen wouldn't have mentioned his name publicly.
Pelchen (and Miller at Richmond) are infamous for the way they work (and their egos).

Because Sydney haven't publicly stated Malceski isn't available, the trade talk will continue and that's the way Pelchen works, unsettling a guy like Malceski.

Nothing is likely to come of it, but Pelchen's hope is that Malceski turns around and worries Sydney don't rate him and indicates a willingness to move back to Victoria.

:D :D Would have gone something like this ...

Bazza: Der ... Spide ... Ya not allowed to muck up like we did at the saints. I'm a good boy now!

Spider: Sure thing Bazza! :thumbsu: ;)

Good try :D

It would be a far more formal discussion compared to yours though. ;)

But Sydney have come out and said publicly that Malceski isn't going anywhere.

And even if they hadn't, do you not think they'd have already spoken to him about his position?

When Pelchen was at Port and "negotiating" the Stevens situation, Didak's name was the one that kept getting thrown up. Doesn't seem to have unsettled him, and Collingwood's refusal to trade him has certainly been vindicated.
