Its terrible. It perpetuates the notion that the victim is in some way responsible for healing the abuser so the abuser can move on. fu** that sh*t. When Young put his hand on Tex's shoulder I nearly threw up.
Yes, god forbid you show empathy. Perhaps Robbie could see that Tex is truly remorseful? Perhaps he’d had long conversations with him and knew he was genuine? It’s not your place to demand how Robbie should and shouldn’t act. “Conciliation” is all about educating and moving forward.

Listen to what Tony Armstrong said, what Michael O'Loughlan said. I think they know a fair bit more about this than you or I.

There's a reason Eddie Betts dodged the question of what he thought of that video. It's exactly the stereotype I mentioned.

yeah I’d be skipping any morality lessons from Michael O’Loughlin

Could be a Port troll. I tend to side-eye people with a low post count whose only contribution is bagging the club.

Side eye …. 😀
Why does anyone pay attention to the Five Minute Fireman?
I’m just so glad he’s gone to SEN and Nine

Don’t watch or listen to either

I’m sure they are. When’s that cobpntract up? End of next year?

Clickbait

Contract is up soon

Audi? PERMABAN

Just checked my Optus contract

That’s up soon too

Never enough

Some people won’t be happy until his life is in ruins

Exactly

Saw reference to the “parklands” on another forum also

I dont read it that way

Forgiveness is a powerful attribute for change

We have to much hate and anger in the world, it we had more forgotten and tolerance for that people do make mistakes the world would be a better place

I tip my hat to Robbie, what he did was so powerful and it goes beyond Tex

I really feel for Eddie. It must ******* suck to learn that Taylor Walker of all people said something racist
That clip of him on VFL 360 was hard to watch.

I hope Eddie is ok. He looked shattered. Also hope those around him make sure he doesn't let his fight against racism consume him.

In the Amazon docco you could see how much it affects him and how it looks like it is a battle he is fighting alone.

Last night he looked spent.

I wasn’t talking about Tex
It doesn't matter

The lack of transparency you're complaining about is not some conspiracy against Tex. It suits him too which is why he'll say nothing.

I understand the historical oppression that Aboriginal people had to cope with.
It's a historical fact. But how that history effect people born today is debatable.

Only three of the Closing the Gap targets are on track. There is no debate about the ongoing economic, social and health disadvantage experienced by Indigenous Australians.

It’s been really clear that Nicks, Eddie, Silvers etc. have all been saying ‘Taylor’. Seems like a very clear indication that mateships are over, no more nicknames. Tex was a mate, one of us; Taylor is a bloke we want to distance ourselves from as much as possible.

I think you're reading too much into it.

With matters like this you need to be as formal and professional as possible.

Lol. Give me a break

Did you miss Eddie's Walker comments in the footage?

Initially I was certain Tex would be back next year.

I am starting to doubt that as I think while on field we are going to struggle for the remainder of the year I do wonder if the change in dynamics amongst the playing group could give an impression to those at the club have moved on without him. Bringing him back next year could be too bigger distraction.

Just a thought, but maybe Indiginous people have their own thoughts and feelings independent of what Robbie or Eddie think.

They don't all collectively decide to forgive or condemn as one hive mind.

Eddie Betts last night gave a very moving speech, but in it he said words to the effect… “I know Taylor Walker, and the kind of guy he is he will give 110% to get this right.“
Eddie knows him as well as any and in this instance knows it was a one off slip of the tongue. Pretty much in line with what Roo said. There’s a base line of racial acceptance that will always there. The best we can hope for is to not overtly be racist as was more common in past years.
If you come back here in 1000 years this kind of thing will probably still be being talked about. I’m getting gawked at by 1 year old babies because I look different here. They are not being racist but I sure look odd to them, you can’t change that comfort with your clan and slight distrust of the other it’s inbuilt in all animal species as a protection mechanism. It can be trained out mostly though but it stays there all the same.

I don't think he will be back. I think he will retire. He is a great club man and if he feels by his presence is not going to be good for the club he will walk on his own. He won't want to have his career ended like this but his age counts against him unfortunately.

If I was to place a bet on it, I'd bet he retires after the Crows last game of the season.

I think you could be right, next year could of been a celebration of his career but it's going to be really awkward. Will AO give him a standing ovation on his last game? Will he be carried off?I just don't think he can be.

People will move on and he will join media but it's going to take some time. I think it will be a low key retirement post season like you say.

I viewed it as a natural human response to someone struggling
Struggling because someone from his own club, threw him under the bus.
I’m glad I stopped giving them money last year. Won’t be supporting that corporate entity no more.
Time to just watch the games now.
I’ve finally realised it’s not a club that supports the guys that actually put on the show, it’s just a bunch corporate arse kissers mostly worried about how they are seen by sponsors and minority interest groups.

I think you’re a bit deluded if you think the youth have distanced themselves from a group 4/5 years older. I see my kids and their mates are not so different to me who’s 38 years older. Maybe I’m just so hip and trendy but I don’t think it’s that.

Drop optus and go with a nice luxury car like Audi. Those 4 hoops would look good...oh wait, we've got Toyota. I wonder what they think about the last week.
Audi sponsors Hawthorn.

Update:
They used too from 2016 to 2019. Apparently West Coast Eagles now.

I dont know why people keep going on about racism. its never going to go away and thats a fact.

yes, if you see someone being racist call them out. but seriously stop whinging about it all the time. you have two options. keep whinging about something you have no control over or move the **** on. life is too short.
