Crows ruckman hamstrung

ADELAIDE recruit Sam Jacobs could miss the rest of the pre-season competition after injuring his hamstring at training.

Jacobs made his debut for the club in round one of the NAB Cup, but pulled up lame in a running drill on Tuesday morning and has been ruled out of the Crows' clash with Fremantle at Thebarton Oval on Saturday.

Certainly has made the ruck questions easy for now. I actually quite like the idea of Jacobs and Moran having to force themselves past the others in the season proper.

Silver lining is we get to see McKernan with an extended hit out as 2R/forward which is the role he is likely gunning for.

Jacobs now a long shot for R1. If Moran only misses one match he's still very much in the mix (hopefully this is simply precaution), but this presents a massive opportunity for the durable Maric.

I'd like to see if Smack is mobile enough to go with Sandi and Kepler - this could be a rehearsal for round 1

I've got zero doubt he will be mobile enough...we just need to see him compete well in the ruck contest, gather enough of the ball around the ground, and ensure some accountability when his opposite number goes forward.

Bradley is the prototype tweener 2R so should be a good contest.

If Smack gets his hands on it in the centre square, look out. The main concern is his centre bounce ruck work against AFL quality ruckmen.
