I understand what the club is trying to do with ROB rucking and then moving forwards when RT goes in the ruck - it's a necessity as it leaves us with zero key forwards (Fog isn't big enough or a pack marker).
BUT,
I'd rather have Gollant in the side so that when RT is rucking we still have at least one person who can crash a pack and take the occasional grab.

If it was me, I'd be playing Gollant at least until Walker is back. It gives Gollant a good run of games to see where he is at and also gives us some coverage up forward.
For me it is Gollant>>>ROB resting forward>>>Himmelberg>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Frampton

Wonder how long it'll take the coaches to realise that ROB clunking marks and kicking goals in the Probables demolition of the SANFL team has zero meaning at AFL level.

2 goals... 20 OOTF, and another 15 that didn't make the distance.

ROB's a pretty decent ruckman, and he's definitely a good contested mark. You just don't want him kicking for goal... ever!
I feel like you're stuck in 2017.

ROB has serious limitations with his kicking, but he only tries to do things within his limitations.

He rarely kicks out on the full anymore.

Probably a lot of shots that missed everything or fell short. The bloke struggles to kick 30 metres.

Not really, he’s not capable of 20m bullet passes, but he can kick it straightish if he’s kicking long to a pack.

If he took a bunch of shots from 35-40 so that he has to kick through the ball, he’d probably get close to 50%

It's no use marking the ball inside the F50 if you can't kick to save your life.

Yes, he's a good contested mark. However, his goal kicking is amongst the worst I have ever seen, by players at any level - including U10s.
Harsh, funny and....true.
BTW is ROB the ugliest kicking style in the AFL? Surely there's not anyone more unco!

No more learning lessons? What a load of rot, we'll be hearing that we are all year.

Hey - We have two weeks of blissful optimism left.

For now some part of me hopes for a 97/05/12 shock the world season.

And side note - what do you expect the captain of the club to come out and say in an interview. "yeah we have a pretty shit list and next to no experience. One or two injuries and we will be terrible, but hey I am getting paid a bunch of money to kick a footy so who really cares?"....

He is definitely wouldn't be my first choice for a set shot in front of goal, but he has improved a lot in that area since he came in. His first couple of years in the side he was awful, but he is now at least serviceable. I would be ok with him resting forward for 5 minutes a quarter clunking marks and having set shots in that 0-25m range.

Please provide proof of the OOTF shots on goal and the ones that didn't make the distance from inside 50.

Right now the stats only say that he's alright at goal kicking.
The sample size is too small to prove either way using statistics.

You only have to watch him to see his a dreadful with ball in hand and has no penetration/accuracy.

Don't get me started on his unco handball technique which is also awful.

Shots at goal last year = 3
Goals kicked = 2

2020: 0 from 5
2019: 2 from 7

He's at least improved from a very low base!

Max Gawn by comparison was 16 from 41 including 8 which didn't score:

I think Nicky Noo ( can’t find her user ID sorry). Posted that he has like a pigeon toe condition
I don’t recall it being a full obstacle but something of hinderance

People will always remember that complete shank in front of goals sadly
from years gone by

Am I happy with ROB’s performance of late no
There is just no mix up in our ruck work

I agree that ROBs contested marking is his best trait, but the contested marks I remember are in the D50 or on the wings. Aren’t those marks a bit different to marks inside the F50, where he can expect to have a big direct opponent paying very close attention?

And going the big fist...altogether different situations between forward play and defensive play.
