And pick a tall forward which we don't need ?

Oscar is one serious injury away (and this was only last year) from causing our forward line to collapse.

Waterman has stepped up obviously, but Darling is gone and JWilliams goes alright so far (and is no guarantee to make it as a top line KPF). That's it. The others are unproven.

I hope we go best available even if it's a key position player.

Shanna's can play back if needed. No brainer if he's still available, given it's Bazzo and Hedwards with a 50yr old McGovern as our defensive pillars. If he's not available then Whitlock will be.

Pick 43 you've got to take a mid. Guessing Urquhart.

I'm with Pants, ignore the WA talent with pick 30. If that means bye bye Davis then so be it.

Why do you think the eagles have been linked to shanahan from pick 12? Was it as a kpd or kpf?

The exacts as to how they see his role I am not privy to, however I do know that on our big board he was rated is the top 15.

The speculation and him being linked to us was in the unlikely situation that all the picks taken before our were mids / flankers and then would would just take the best player a available, and was touted that it would be a KPF.

I also don’t share the optimism that Oscar just fits seamlessly back into being a KPF.
History suggests a that his injury woes are are not going away.
He can play as a KPD and not having to turn as much as a defender might prolong his career.
But right now there are some serious questions marks over Oscars fitness going forward.

We can blame that on the absolutely ****en stupid decision to ruck him while he was still growing.
The AFL has many examples of young talented kids who never got the best out of their football careers because they were thrown into the most combative and body gruelling position in the game - ruck, too early.

Both Matthew Kreuzer ( Carlton ) and Josh Fraser ( Collingwood), suffered career long injuries that they got by being thrown into the ruck way too early.

I digress.

So in light of my concerns for Oscars longevity and fitness in the game I would be fine with taking another quality KPP.

Now without being too disrespectful to Jamieson and Barnett, right at the moment both look like being busts.

Bazzo I hold some hope that he becomes a quality third tall in defence.

So that’s a bit of my take on the situation.

Are we best friends now?

Reads to me if if shanahan is there we'll take him otherwise it's boxshall
I will be unhappy if we draft Shannahan or Whitlock.

As KPFs they would get in the queue behind AReid and even BWilliams and Livingstone.

What is the point of having 5 or 6 blokes for two positions? Would just lead to frustration by those at the end of the line.

Insanity/stupidity is doing the same thing that doesn’t work more than once.

Who would make the better KPD in your opinion, Shanahan or A Reid? I've seen bugger all of either but Shanahan seems the more highly rated forward? I'm all for Shanahan as too good to pass up, but would love to have a crack at the Tigers first pick tonight to get another mid first. I have faith in our ability to develop a KPD from lower in the draft/rookie list.

I will answer your question another way.

I think AReid could be an absolute star and “IF” he puts it all together he will be one of the best KPF in the league.
That said he may need to be played as a KPD.
Let me explain.

Archer has a flaw in his game in that he IMO has concentration issue, and he floats in and out of games and in and out of quarter too frequently for my liking.

Now if he is played as a defender he is forced to play closer and give more attention to his direct opponent, so would be less likely to loose concentration.

One of his greatest attributes is that he marks the ball at the height point and with his height 203cm and long reach, he will dominate arial contests.
He could become a Harris Andrews like KPD.

Shanahan has no such concentration issues and, in fact has a bit of white line fever about him, so at this point in time I would see him as being more likely than not to became a very good KPF and or KPD.

In a perfect world they both click and if this happens 🙏 they would be a A Class pair of KPF.

Our needs include talls, back, forward and ruck. We als need pace and skill in the midfield. Interesting too see what we extract from tonights auction. It may give an insight into how the club sees our developing players.

That's not how it works, what you say would be true if we were recruiting Brander each year expecting him to suddenly be good.

But what we're doing is recruiting different players to a similar position in the hope that one or two will be good.

By your logic because Brander was a bust we should never draft a KPF again because they will always be busts...

Archer reid hopefully comes on as well.
Anyway you could be right and we take shanahan. I hope you're wrong.
If Oscars body comes good we're all set and won't even be able to play AReid down there

I mean as a entirety of the last 10 years as opposed to just last year

Crazy to think these nimrods think we have re invented the wheel after 1 draft. Its going to take them 5+ years to realise the wheels have changed
Have you organised the protest yet? You had insinuated that you were a real go getter and wouldn’t muck around from memory.
