if you compile one with best players (based on talent alone) id be interested to see what you come up with.
Talent creates a different team.

It’s an interesting idea. It pits objective against subjective. Sure statistics give you a hint as to who are the best players. That’s objective. However subjectivity allows you to indulge yourself and express an opinion. I like that.

Red pill or blue pill moment.

You're right in that the best players may not amount to the best team. How to gauge that though, makes for the interesting exercise.

Not that it means much but I do think its interesting to see where outsiders view where our club is at. No one had us above 14th with the average being around 14/15th.
Yeah agreed. I tried to do a ladder prediction yesterday and I think you can throw a blanket over teams 10-17 (us, Essendon, North, Saints, Crows, Dockers, Swans and Dees). I’d argue we’ve got the most upside of this group but I think we end up being put around 14/15 because we’re seen as a “safe” bet to not consistently perform. Round 1 didn’t help with that. Internally, we all see the positives (namely, pretty much everything after midway through the second quarter) but the general view is that our performance was fairly dismal (based on what I’ve read in the media and the non-Carlton people I’ve talked to). Until we put together a strong season, expect all the impartials to remain sceptical of where we’re going. Would love to prove a few wrong this year and beyond.

yeah agree totally with this. you could argue that you could throw a blanket over 8-17 as well. its certainly a tight bottom half

The toughest part for outsiders is that they look at our rd1 performance and see such a big swing from our best and worst in 1 game.

So the safest place to go is to say we may see some improvement but no one going to stick their neck on the line and pick us for the top 8.

Everyone seems to forget that in round one we played the reigning champions who are the league benchmark.

Anything within 5 goals is acceptable, whatever your metric.

Not if you want to be the premiers ......

Interestingly Gary Lyon put us in as the smoky team to watch "on the couch" on Monday night. Said that he had been having a good look at the list and thought very highly of the backline and forwardline in particular.

Baby steps, Tinny.

Start by being competitive then work on being ruthless.

We have been taking baby steps for 5 years now mate … actually longer …. lucky I love the Baggers mate.

Your still not going to get it.

Move on agro, you aretainted when it comes to this subject

Suggesting your source ( son in law ), questioned SOS taking LOB ahead of Richards ( who turned up late to the interview ) is one thing, but then Richards sliding another 5 picks?

You and or you son in law have zero credibility
